I took one of my granddaughters to see The Marvels. She really wanted to go, and worse, wanted the family Comics Geek to take her. So, we went. It was about 20 minuets in to the film when she leaned over and hissed "Why didn't you warn me this sucks?" At her urging, we left. She compared it to a bad fanfic. She showed up expecting a MARVEL film, not a Chic Flick. I told her to ask me for my opinion in the future. She is a very self confident young lady, with very strong feelings about her entertainment.

I'm a white guy from Sweden and I can tell you that to this day, Blade II is still my favorite Marvel movie. Entertainment needs to be entertaining first and foremost. It's so funny to hear these people fall over themselves trying to put the blame on every body else, except themselves. Race, gender or whatever does not enter into it.

The Mary Sue headlines usually make me feel like some kind of supervillain. Alas, Zillow has a real dearth of volcano lairs.

I love this "toxic male appreciation"! I'm a woman who loves men and it's so nice to hear level-headed women combat this nonsense of hatred of men everywhere... On the topic of Disney films failing, no it's definitely not the audience's fault. They should make better movies!

If y’all are interested in seeing the actor who played Captain Marvel’s husband in a genuine rom com that takes proper advantage of both his talent and attractiveness, check out the K-drama “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?” As a huge fan of Classic Hollywood screwball rom-coms, I feel like their spirit is best being continued by the Korean entertainment industry these days, just in limited series form. And “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?” is one of the best examples of this. (Side note: I have a feeling Marvel casted him to try to tap into the K-drama fan market because they marketed the HECK out of him, way disproportionate to the size of his actual role in the film)

Great video! It was over too fast... ㅠㅠ It would be nice to see/hear some accountability from Disney on specific criticisms about their movies but they don't even care to do that. The main villain putting on both bracelets at the end and just vanishing was incredibly anti-climatic. As well, I know it's a small thing, but when they attack Kamala Khan's family and the mom uses her body to protect the dad from the oncoming spear thrust, it made me puke in my mouth a little bit. I understand that something like this can happen in stories/movies but we all know Disney put it in there on purpose and we all know why. I've also talked to a female Marvel fan and told her why I didn't like Captain Marvel and wasn't interested in seeing this movie. To which she responded by asking me if I was an incel.. ... ... The fact that Marvel fans are parroting these talking points by Disney is also pretty disturbing. We've seen them time and time again disparage the male audience and put out discriminatory hate pieces against males all while claiming to be on the right side of things and virtuous. Appreciate this podcast and looking forward to more in the future. Thanks!
