This may not be a popular viewpoint, as I haven't seen it posted anywhere, but I'm fully convinced Shepard can't die. The Lazarus cybernetic implants were designed to bring Shepard back from death, as the Cerberus doctor said he/she was clinically brain dead. I believe those implants keep Shepard alive through all the various impacts and physical trauma he/she experiences in ME2 & 3. Shepard is the only one to survive a direct blast from a Reaper, and if the destroy ending is canonical, it only further proves that nothing can kill Shepard again. The scene when Shepard made the long trek up to the beam after being struck by Harbinger, and the walk to the control center thereafter, is his/her body being kept alive via cybernetics. He/she even passed out after being beamed up, only to be forcibly awakened when Anderson called on the radio. You can hear a sort of unnatural jolt sound as Shepard twitches back to life, then stands up where anyone else would've died, or at least been too exhausted to stand. It's no surprise that Shepard survived the destruction of the Citadel, and wouldn't make sense for the other two endings to completely dissolve his/her body entirely, as he/she was half, if not mostly, cybernetic. Only Shepard's brain remained fully organic, but even that was being monitored and kept alive through the cybernetic's Lazarus technology. I wouldn't be surprised if Shepard is still alive in ME4, even though it supposedly takes place 100's of years after ME3.

The last scene of the game where shepard lives makes no sense and after years of thinking on it the best I can come up with is dumb luck and bad storywriting decisions. Shepard can get get shot by the illusive man before the end and die but blowing up in space at the center of the radius somehow isn't enough to kill them. And lets not forget that it was an anti synth explosion which should be even worse for shepard and starboi even points that out too. And even if you think that starboi is lying it doesn't work because despite him being written like a shady character that would stab you in the back he actually at best doesn't tell you everything but never straight up lies to you. I guess shepard developed resistance to death by exploding in space since mass effect 2.

Well, he/she was rebuilt as a supersoldier in ME2, something Cerberus were testing since ME1 but people tend to forget about. We don't know if the use some Reaper tech on Shep...but that should've been clarified by Miranda IF EAware had not cutted her important involment from most of ME3 (if alive), specially from the Noveria Fighters Base to the Cronos Station assault (Miranda Mod had fix some of those itching issues for me😒)

For asari, when I first saw that bachelor party scene I just assumed that it was similar to how humans have evolved to see faces in everything due to the wiring to recognize others of our own species. Asari share traits similar to the main races and I figured that they were just recognizing similar traits in asari that they recognize in their own due to their brains probably being hardwired to recognize faces

2:43:30 I haven't played the Citadel DLC, but I got the Avina dialogue about purgatory all the same. When asked specifically about the nightclub, Avina says there is no such establishment registered. I'm pretty sure it's just supposed to be a joke about Aria being shady and staying on the record.

She's also wrong about the Indoctrination Theory, too. She stated it's claimed the whole thing happens when Shepard passes out before reaching the control panel just after Anderson dies, that is false. The Indoctrination Theory claims it happens just after Harbinger hits Shepard with his beam before Shepard reaches the Conduit. It's claimed Harbinger didn't actually hit Shepard directly with the beam but rather, knocked him back (which does actually happen in the official canon) and knocks him out. It's claimed when he 'awakes' from it all immediately afterwards, it's all an illusion and a dream that is going on in his mind that Harbinger and the Reapers conjured up as a last ditch effort to try and Indoctrinate Shepard

RE: Asari looks, we can actually debunk that immediately. Even if Asari were messing with the viewer's head to appear more attractive, that wouldn't work on cameras. Still images. Videos, etc. Would all reveal the real Asari. Everyone's giving faaaar too much credit to three drunk dudes BSing in a bar. What's really going on is three aliens looking at very different things, on a frame that's fairly close to their own and going "Yep, that's approximately my species!" You wouldn't get the same reaction from a Krogan if they were at the table, the theoretical fourth buddy to the group. Asari have quite literally nothing in common with Krogan females besides the ability to bear children. So that's right out. For the Salarians flexibility and skin tone actually do a lot of the work here. Turians focus on head crests in a sexual sense (this is mentioned in the lore I swear!). For humans... well. Asari are bipedal, and have what we generally consider a pleasing female shape. For the average human male, with a nice enough figure on the table... you're not going to slow down for some head tentacles. There's dedicated fandoms for things far more alien body type wise than the Asari in this reality for example. We can also say we know that it really does come down to preference if you like Asari, not Asari mindfuckery. There's multiple characters and assorted NPCs who make comments to the effect of not being attracted to Asari for one reason or another. Steve Cortez doesn't find Asari attractive, if there was mind fuckery going on, theoretically an Asari would appear more masculine to try and bend Steve's mind around in their favor. There's at least one ambient conversation where a Krogan comments about Asari being far too soft and small. While other Krogan seem to like petite (downlike waiflike by Krogan standards), soft and blue. Fun fact regarding irl levo and dextro proteins. You have both inside you. Right now. Dun dun dun!

You said the protheans fired the crucible and a burst of energy was shot through the relays destroying the reapers. I'd like to know your source on this. As in the game the prothean vi on thessia says that they were never able to use the crucible. This also has massive implications on the destroy ending of mass effect 3. If the reapers were destroyed by the protheans how did they come back in the next cycle? Were there some hiding in dark space? If you pick destroy in me3 will the same thing happen? The reapers aren't actually gone?

In respect to the asari looking like us through their ability to alter perception, many people who are experts or members of the science community have an idea that alien life will most likely look not entirely dissimilar to earth based life forms. Due to natural selection it’s entirely likely the shapes of say humans is a shape that is universal. They may have some slight changes for example parts of their anatomy may be different to compensate for changes in things like what they breathe, but overall the general shape of life would remain the same.

Great video, like how in depth you go on many of the points. In regards to the Tim indocitrinated way before theory, I think its quite intentionally open ended, or Bioware wasnt really paying attention to it either way as it doesnt really matter in the grands cheme of things. Imo he wasnt being manipulated before ME 3, not before they seriously startede to mess with Reaper tech and infusing soldiers with it but he is manipulated throghout ME3. The biggest peace of evidence is simply the fact that this is an exact repeat of what happened during the Prothean war against the reapers, thy also had a faction that tried to control the reapers and who knows how "close" they have gotten, the fact that Tims research has managed to more or less get control of husks for small periods of time by absolute no means shows it would be capable of controlling Reapers, its unlikely that Reapers really consider this a threat. Its hard to imagine that these monolithic existences were threatened by this relatively small issue, its far more likely this is simply a part of their usual modus operandi in taking over, in the end all that happens is that it pits us against each other, which always benefits them. That being said, I absolutely do believe that Tim believed in Control being a viable option, thats why his indoctrination was so subtle even to him, just like with Saren.

Regarding 58, the "Shepard is a myth" you might have made a mistake when you discuss the Prothean Beacon on Eden Prime. So modern anatomical human beings have existed for around 300,000 years. The Reapers only emerge every 50,000 years or so. We know that the Protheans were present in some capacity on Mars, possibly an observation/research station. We know, based on the Eletania Vision, that the Protheans experimented on cromagnon humans. Specifically we know that they implanted at least one crogmanon human with something on the back of his skull. The hunter then dies, but not before transmitting that memory of death to the Protheans (presumably the information traveled from Earth-Mars-?-Eletania). This gives us good reason to think they understood the human brain. The beacons were also not just random data troves. They were meant to be found by the successor species of the galaxy. They were meant to be comprehensible by the species with the greatest potential of becoming space faring species before the next Reaping. Shepherd understanding the beacon shouldn't be considered special or unpredictable - it was planned that Shephard understand. The only part I'm unclear about is why the ciphers weren't included with the beacons.

Your description of protheans is similar to how people interpret the synthesis ending. More interestingly, Shepherd’s dna was said to be mixed with prothean since coming into contact with the pillar in the first game, and why the one on the Asari planet reacted to our Shep’s presence…it’s still unclear how synthesis will impact the Milky Way, but if the next game follows Andromeda’s 600 year time gap, I guess we’ll find out.

Really great job! One thing about TIM and Cerberus being compromised and Indoctrinated by the Reapers (and I might have missed this in your video, so I could be wrong here) is that in the mission to the Mars archive in ME3 early on, Ashley/Kaiden finds a radio on a Cerberus solider when they opened the soldier's helmet and see a bunch of cybernetics on the solider, and they claim it's reaper tech, and by all accounts, it looks like the beginning stages of Reaper tech's effect on organics. I am wondering if that has any significance to the TIM/Cerberus being Indoctrinated earlier on?

I think Dev team messed up the Lore, because initially it was believed that every previous races are being utilized and repurposed by the Reapers to achieve their unknown goals. The Protheans are turned into mad-scientist like race that perform experiment on current races to determine their reaper form. Human Reaper are literal Giant human mech. But in ME3 it’s revealed that the Reapers take the form of their Creator, the Leviathans, and all previous cycle races are completely eradicated, which to me means that these harvested are being digitalized, turned into data (that the reaper will share if you choose other than destroy).

I'm not sure if they retconned the lore between games but from what I understand it was the core of the reaper that looked like the race the reaper was made from. The outside was made to look like harbinger(later retconned to be modeled after the Leviathans) with some minor changes between them like extra or less limbs or a slightly different shape but still relatively the same, which can be best seen in the ending scene of ME2.

Every reaper is made to look similar to their original creators the levithans. Edi speculates the purpose of a human reaper but it's just speculation. We will never know why they attempted beyond pure speculation as we never heard the reason why directly from the reapers themselves or the catalyst.

If you played Mass Effect 2, EDI stated the Reapers tried to make a Prothean Reaper but for whatever reason, they failed. So, instead, the Reapers kept the remaining Indoctrinated Protheans alive, forced them to undergo extensive genetic rewrite, and repurposed them to be the Collectors, mindless husks and slaves whose only existence is to do the Reapers' bidding, pretty evil tbh.

I can’t help but wonder if the keepers were some sort of ancient evolutionary predecessor to the rachni, physically speaking they look fairly similar. Maybe the they shared a common ancestor. I don’t think it would entirely be out of the realm of possibility considering the rachni have stuck around for multiple cycles. And seeing what changes the reapers made to the protheans to turn them into the collectors, I think it’s reasonable to assume that changes could’ve been made to their physiology to make them more utilitarian and less offputting to aliens that may settle the citadel ie: lose the acid spitting tentacles, make their mouth bits look less bitey, and give them big round compound eyes rather than crazy spider eyes.

I had to look up Iceberg theory in order to understand this video. So for anyone also wondering what all this is about: the American author Hemingway once created the Iceberg theory, it's about what's not clearly said or stated in a story and how that has an influence. So for Mass Effect, many people create iceberg models about things that are only mentioned in the games or things they leave much space for interpretation, thus creating a much bigger universe that isn't visible before you take a closer look. If course, like many conspiracy theories, these iceberg models can include a lot of over-interpretation and nonsense

Every iceberg has the obligatory 'all the endings are actually bad endings heheheheh' that just gives me an aneurysm. The asari true form being unknown would make some sense- however an asari being able to influence people doesn't explain their... well.. physiology? I think their physiology is accurate to what is seen- that being female/human. The reason being asari KNOW what they look like. They have a specific perception of themselves even saying- "while asari look female, we are actually genderless" I think their design as humanoid females is intentional. A twist on the concept of a female dominant society.

The Rachni Question - any races unable to withstand the Reaper instigated Rachni Assault would not be considered suitable for saving. If you are an advanced but weak race why take up a cycle when other specimens exist that can/will outperform you.

the indoctrination theory is just too perfect, even if its by acident, and it fits the one thing the games went out of their way is that Shepard is normal plain human, whith the only thing special about them is their Unbreakable Will and as much as I love my badass unkillable commander, why woundlt Shepard start to feel the effect of slow indoctrination over the years the gamess story, and in the end its up to the player if they fall into indoctrination or no ill be the first to admit, I chose the green ending on my first run

Same. I just like to play into it even if I know that's not the truth but it makes for a better ending and why should the hero be immune to indoctrination. Its also the only way to explain why shepard was able to survive an explosion in space at point blank. The breathing scene just makes no sense except if nothing makes sense because dreams.

i personaly never saw the indoctrination theroy as viable . because . interaction with the beakon combined with repeaded mental exposures of different kinds would have made mental minppulation near impossible . generic human thought to beakon to feros to liara to dyng cyber and synthetic rebuilding ( mass effect 2 extensive brain damage due to exposure to vaccume) - on the neural pathing alone would make shep go insane well before control could be obtained and with the tech side of things it puts shep more on par with a geth mind then a humans . also explaines why shep can force a conversation rather then become an instant drone . for the theroy to hold water the reapers and liviathans must be on par or below shep in ability drastically reducing their threat or value .
