One of my favorite songs of all time, not just Australian! A great song of love, separation, and independence, it's a bit of an anthem for me! I was 12 years old when it was released. Recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios, the piano being played, although not shown in the video clip, is Paul McCartneys white grand. The blonde guy playing bass guitar is Glenn Wheatley (John Farnham's manager). Drummer is Colin Burgess, who became AC/DC's first drummer. The clip was filmed by Australian filmmaker Timothy Fisher and was shot on a freezing autumn morning on Hampstead Heath.

I was 11 at the time. Music in Australia today is a far cry from where it was in the 70s and even the early 80s. I'm not big on 80s sound and style, however, there were a few stand-outs. Too bad it's all gone now. The 70s were a great time to be alive in Australia.

What terrible news; I knew Glen in the early years in Brisbane, and later caught up with him in Melbourne to introduce him to a songwriter. Great talent, great business man, and even greater individual! May Heaven's musicians welcome Glen with the wonderful Master Apprentice's music! Glen may you rest in peace, God bless your family.

The take on this I have is: Imagine loving someone in a way no one will ever love them again.. realising that you will never see them again... and being able to walk away without anger..,or bitterness. Its almost like Wish you well Bernard fanning vibes which is also definitely worth checking out if you aren't Australian and haven't heard it yet. Powerful. The 70's- Another time of innocence before ours in the 90's which was the last of the great relationship era's before the horrors of social media and rampant narcissism.

Bernard Fanning's song 'Wish You Well' was definitely about his split with his partner at the time.
