This is the type of jiujitsu talk i like to listen, not chit chating about upcominc ecents and bullshit like that who is gonna compete against who for the 37th time in the next polaris 78, but more like sparring ideas, techniques and peoples philosophy about training and jiujitsu etc!

The last 30 minutes was the most interesting for me. Listening to them discuss rules just makes me angry. If they want to talk about rules, there should be some organized podcast for it, because it never really goes anywhere. That type of stuff always reminds me of why I hate the lack of popularity in BJJ. The end of this episode made me wish Priit Mihkelson was on the show because HE would have a GREAT answer for Keenan and his school. I think Matt Thornton and Priit and Wim would be great people to have on the podcast

1:27:17 a lot of schools are adopting the two piece singlet which is essentially shirt and shorts. You guys are definitely right, a lot of people interested in wrestling are very hesitant because of the singlet. I have grown to really enjoy the singlet though.

Unreal amount of mental horsepower on the show. Keenan is by far the smartest/funniest Jiu Jitsu personality on the scene. Classic Keenan line (responding to the streets having to be washed down "because the streets have hepatitis" - " Keenan responds with "You mean they tested the streets?"

Regarding Keenan's hypothetical @2:04:34 about learning just though sparring, I kinda have a related anecdote. In my neighborhood we have a gym where they only do sparring (>90% of the allotted time, sometimes 100%) and when they come to open-mat those guys fight really weird. It's not bad jiu-jitsu per se, just the movement and pressure they do is not what I'm used to seeing... oh... and also they don't tap easily. You have to really have the submission on and threaten it sincerely to have those guys tap. Just things I've heard. Really interesting point, though.

@@Mslt2474 Yes and before the match, the sub grappling fans knew how obvious it was that Gordon would win. Yet Bo and MANY wrestling fans didn't seem to share that view. If I had a dollar for every wrestling fan that said something like "jiu jitsu is soft, wrestlers can do just fine in their rules, cus wrestlers are soooo tough"😂 Funny how before the match, wrestlers will crush jiu jitsu guys in jiu jitsu rules, but after the match, now it's so obvious Gordon would win. 😂

Maybe Keenan overestimates the efficiency of a pure grappling approach in a deathmatch. At least, allot of that inverted rolling stuff that Lachlan does in grappling would 1000% expose your head to every attack imaginable. And considering that saying when you punch a black belt once, it becomes a brown belt, etc.
