You want to know another funny FACT about this movie? Did you know Keanu Reeves wasnt their first choice to play Neo (TheOne) in the Matrix? They originally offered the Role to Will Smith, but he turned it down. So they went with Keanu Reeves instead. Just imagine how different this movie would of been with Will Smith in it. im so glad he turned them down. couldnt imagine anyone else playing the part of Neo.

There was only ONE error in this movie. When Cypher betrayed them all. The scene where he was talking to agent Smith. l mean how did he get to the meeting? he was the only one that betrayed the team. so who plugged him into the Matrix so he could enter the DreamWorld, and who disconnected him and brought him back to the ship after the meeting? l mean he couldnt of loaded himself into the Matrix for the meeting, and then bring himself out of it again.

@IamnotJohnFord Жыл бұрын
@@jeffstacy6636 Of course he could jump in and out alone. All it would take is an electronic timer connected to a simple device set up to plug him up and unplug him at specific times. Remember in Jurassic Park where the programmer Dennis Nedry set up a program designed to open and shut doors, turn cameras off and on, and cloak his movements in a cascading and precise manner? He did that alone and it all worked perfectly except for him running off the road in that storm. So, Cypher could easily set this up on his shift and it would only span a few minutes. Heck, he could even have proximity warning devices set up to warn him if any of the crew was approaching. Why do you think Cypher was surprised to see Trinity picking up an extra night shift at the very beginning of the movie? He was probably sneaking around then, and she screwed up his plans.

Funny behind the scenes story. When the directors originally wanted to film this movie, they wanted a budget of 100 million dollars. But Warner Bros only gave them about 11 million. So, they blew it all into the entire beginning of the movie with Trinity's introduction. When they showed that footage to the executives, they were greenlit the original budget requested. They wanted to see the entire movie as a finished product. XD

I actually loved the actors' and their dedication to this movie. Notice how Keanu Reeves has very little high kicks in this movie. His choreography had to take into account that Keanu was in a neck brace for most of this movie. He was recovering from spine surgery. Hugo Weaving needed hip surgery after he accidentally overworked himself during the fight training he was doing for the movie. Even Carrie Anne Moss broke her ankle during filming. But she was terrified of being fired and recast by another actress so she kept it a secret and continued filming. Even goes to show how much Keanu was such a nice supportive person. When the second and third film was going through some tight budget situations, he funded the rest of the budget personally as needed.

Good trilogy to start Dev G! (Another great trilogy is Lord of the Rings) The matrix as a concept is one of the best and most likely theory of reality itself because we have evidence of such a beginning through our own technological advances. Arthur C. Clarke wrote it best: 1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong. 2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. 3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Captain here. No spoilers, this was all explained in the first movie, but it is hard to catch everything. The humans created Artificial intelligence. It became self aware and decided humans no longer were needed. This led to a war which all but exterminated humanity. Humans fought back by extinguishing the suns rays with the clouds (somehow), so the machines now needed to find a new source of energy. They then captured and started growing humans in order to power themselves (which doesn't really make sense... but w/e its a sci-fi movie). The humans were dying because their minds were not stimulated in the right way, so the machines created 'The Matrix' which is a simulation to keep the humans minds functioning while they are in their tube (They explain this further in later films so I won't spoil that). There are still humans that are alive in the real world in an underground city called 'Zion' which is mentioned a few times in this movie. The 'Agents' are just a program in the matrix that provide security for the machines, their purpose (to my understanding) is to capture, kill, and/or interrogate any humans that have become aware of the matrix-- or inserted themselves into the matrix like Neo , Trinity etc. Their mission in this movie is trying to get the security codes to Zion, because the machines are still trying to exterminate the remaining humans in the real world. The story continues.... *Flys away*

I've heard that originally people weren't a power source, but the machines were using the human brains as living computers. That is to say, the brain was smaller than computers of the same processing power and used less energy, etc., so the idea of having computers control brains and using them that way isn't new. It certainly makes a lot more sense than using people as a power source since that would be highly inefficient, especially since the machines have "a kind of fusion". But it was thought that the audience wouldn't be able to underrstand that, so the coppertop idea was used instead.
@stanmann3563 жыл бұрын
I agree the copper top plot makes no sense, because it would require more energy to maintain the human body than would be produced. I think a better story would have been that the matrix was set up by an alien race to harvest chemicals from the human brains, chemicals only produced if the brain was happy and healthy. It could have been an automatic system run by machines and the aliens only show up every hundred years or so to collect what was in the storage tanks
@Thane364253 жыл бұрын
@@stanmann356 Humans are energy consumers not generators. The machines would be better off burning the crops to power steam plants than feeding humans. That idea about harvesting brain chemicals could work. Ever see the movie "I Come in Peace"? The Matrix could be the result of not stopping the bad aliens from that movie. Although this would only work with the first movie. The others would make that difficult.
@stanmann3563 жыл бұрын
@@Thane36425 That's why I suggested the aliens only showed up intermittently, leaving the AI in charge of the matrix while they were gone. Humans could have rebelled against the AI/Matrix, then gained strength to fight off the aliens when they eventually returned, could have gotten a couple more films out of it
@Thane364253 жыл бұрын
@@stanmann356 Both storylines could work together. The machines could get the processing power while harvesting brain chemicals for the aliens. Bro!!!!!!!!!!! You Musta turned it off before the end?!? When he walks out of the phone booth he looks up to the sky and then you see him flying off like superman! I remember seeing this in the theater and everybody went bonkers when they saw it!

This movie introduced the then innovative special effect known as the Bullet Time effect. As you you watch this movie you will know what scenes. I am talking about. This special effect was copied after this movie in shows, commercials and other movies. So after the movie will you take the red pill or blue pill?

Devin, you just got red pilled! You'll never look at the world the same way...

Only thing I hate about the movie is that the two murderers from Columbine HS copied Neo and Trinity in their final scene.

I'm not going to sacrifice other people's lives to live a comfortable one. I'm the asshole who tries to use the Liberator Pistol.

I remember this one coming out. Saw it opening week, theater was dead. After a couple weeks it blew up. Couldn't get tickets months later. Was always sold out on the weekends. Real sleeper hit. Changed so much about fight choreography and filming (the whole slow mo sweep around). Not to mention bringing Keanu back into the movie spotlight when people still only knew him for things like Speed and Bill & Ted. Also the answer that early question it's about 25-30 feet across a city two lane from rooftop to rooftop. City lanes are usually about 10 or 11 feet across and the simulated jump where he face plants is only a single back alley style lane, small to train on I guess. Either way this one was a huge sleeper of a blockbuster. 63 million for a budget and they pop out 8 times that and 2 more follow up movies, an anime set, and now a 4th one, not to mention the games, merc, and making a number of things from the movies into their own culture style. I mean hell I had a pair of shades in high school just because of this movie. I still want that ol' Lincoln they cruise around in because of this one hell of a movie.

Can’t wait for matrix 4. Not sure why they waited so long but I’m still hyped. Looking forward to your review of it! Also the other sequels are bad ass. Matrix reloaded is my favorite of all the movies.
