Hey guys, i have put some info down below for some comments on how to bend you composition. Another option is to use a similar technique in my "Double Exposure" tutorial to have it appear through your video layer. Other wise you can use the 'Warp tool' options to freely bend your comp around your scene.

For those of you with issues of animations moving at the same time, make sure when you duplicate the layers and move the timing forward a few frames, you’re supposed to move the cursor INSIDE the red bar and drag it forward, do NOT hover over the edge of it and drag when the dual horizontal arrows appear. To verify you’re doing it properly, select the layer, click Animation>Reveal Properties with Keyframes, and when you drag the red bar, all the keyframes should move with you dragging it.

Hi Julia, You can only do simple bends in after effects option 1) You can use 'Warp' tool 2) Make your layer 3d then go to 'composition settings' -> '3D Render' options -> change your renderer to 'Cinema 4D or Ray-Traced 3D' . Then go to 'Geometry Options' and adjust the curvature (this will only be available under a video layer not a text layer). Follow the same path in my 'Netflix' tutorial from 9:15 except when you get the geometry options you will have different options available. Thanks

Hi, great vid! I wonder how i can make my name appear character by character but it starts as matrix lowercase font for each character and then it stops with a matrix uppercase which can actually be read.

Good question, I believe it is a limitation of the font. If you used a different font it might work. The font is designed in uppercase, so you end product will end up in uppercase. Thanks FPfx

Hi Taif, if you remove the black background and drag this composition on top of your footage it will show up. You can track your footage using a null object and then parent your layer to the null to track it too your scene. My color is stuck on white an wont change to green unless i change map black to white an map white to black thats the only way it works im using after effects 2019 edition an this tutorial has been driving me crazy for last 7 hours ive been trying to do it for im new new new to after effects trying to set up my twitch stream an this is the basis of my design right here an i cant even get it right this is my 4th day trying to do a matrix raining code effect as my twitch/you-tube intro video an back drop effect for my overlay but still it is quite complicated having issues if you could please re-do this tutorial for beginners that would be really amazing an absolutely grateful because im about to give up on this whole idea of designing my own overlay with intro video an if you do decide to do the tut again which i beg for can you please show your after effects work space layout an explain what is each thing an how it works when you do the matrix tutorial it will really help new people like me learn much love from New Zealand.

I've done this like 4 times and could not figure out my problem. I know what it is not, but cannot figure out how to resolve without changing everything manually. At the 1:15 second mark, all of the letters change to another letter at the exact same time even though I've moved the frames up. The other issue is that the letters also all fade at the same time at the 2:00 second mark. It seems when I duplicate layers and move them back a couple frames, it still retains all of the values of the previous layer so everything happens at the same time. Not sure how to fix this...

Hi, how come my letters are all changing at the same time and do not change from white to green separately? Basically they all change colours and scramble at the same time and they also all face out at the same time.. Sorry kinda a newb to the whole After Effects scene :p

Hi Keegan, thanks for your question. Basically its hard to pin point the exact point that its not working i recommend just going back through and check your settings against the video. these points may help you 1) make sure you complete the step at 2:13 on the video. 2) Make sure you off center the comps when you duplicate them. 3) Try changing the letter as shown at 3:33 in the video. I have gone through this myself and it does work, so just double check those 3 steps. Hope that helps you out.

No worries, if you copy exactly what I do at 5:25 you will be able to (duplicate control + D) like you have and then drag the layer to the right to off centre. This will delay the effect for the next layer. Keep doing this to reach the desired effect. Thanks

Hi, if you are referring to the keyframes all you need to do is select the layer and hit 'u' on the keyboard to bring them all up.

I installed the font and made a new text layer to make the digital rain code, but typing lowercase, the font only seems to show in english alphabet letters? It won't show in Japanese letters at all. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Hmm that may be a limitation with font. You could try searching for matrix font online and seeing if you can find one that works with multi language.

@@FlatPackFX Ah ok I was wondering how it worked for the tutorial. Back in October/November I did a practice line of code and the font worked perfectly but not anymore. I've tried reinstalling and deleting the font and it only shows in English now.

Hi, make sure you set the end of the key frame for the letter transition to be closer to the start. You can also select the whole composition and drag it up so it ends mid way down the screen.

The Font is not working buddy, try to install all 3 of them... no one works. Only Open Office can find this Font but not After Effects...

Make sure you install the correct file and then restart your computer. After effects can be very particular about fonts. Hope that helps
