That being REAL humans the agents would take over, and if the agent was " killed" while in the software the REAL human would also die. We see this when agents revert back and are the dead human. There is no shame in not being a 'critic' in that sense, nor does it make you wrong in any way if you are not. The idea of putting out a Matrix sequel almost 20 years after the story ended was a bad one to begin with. This series was done. It was over in 2003. Why are we getting another movie now? This is the kind of nonsense you get when you take a story that was finished with all of the threads and try to untie them to continue it. You get a tangled mess.

There are sequel ideas that COULD have been interesting. 'Pitch Meeting' points out that the war between the AIs could have been a fascinating movie. Or how about a city full of freed humans trying to survive on a scorched planet without machine help. Or maybe even a suddenly reduced-population Matrix that is trying to hold itself together with less energy and less people, or maybe a new Matrix society developing with people awake to the illusion. Any of these ideas COULD have used some of the characters we were familiar with. But instead they went with trying to remake the first one but filled with joking self-references. Lame.

This movie got made because WB had pestered the Wachowskis for years for a new Matrix, and one of them finally said "fine I'll make the fucking thing but you cant be mad at how it turns out" I'd have more respect for Lana if she came out and said "yeah I didnt want to make this movie, but WB wouldnt stop asking and I figured if they were gonna pay someone to make a shitty sequel may as well be me."
@Conflict-ff5pi3 жыл бұрын
I have no idea why The Wachowskis still get work. They made 1 great movie (OG Matrix) and 2 decent movies (v for vendetta and speed racer) and the rest of their work has ranged from middling (matrix sequels) to outright god awful (jupiter ascending). It baffles me how Hollywood can reward people for making one good product 20 years ago. They're obsessed with the past. Also makes me wonder how much of the Matrix was actually them, or the team surrounding them at the time.

It doesn't make sense to make Smith return to the Matrix. The entire point of Neo's sacrifice was that he died to save the Matrix, humanity, and the Machines from being destroyed by the Smith virus in both worlds. Bringing him back negates everything Neo did and makes the entire trilogy pointless.
@chrism89613 жыл бұрын
@@mish375 normally i would agree but after further thought the film touches on this...in that it wasn't all in vein. Progress is being made in the real world between man and machine thanks to Neo and Trinity's previous sacrifices. The strawberry making scene although a bit brief was showing us a glimpse of man and machine starting to work together to build a better world again. Plus Smith is a part of neo..if neo is reinserted....Smith is too...as we learn he is the negative side of neo's equation, with the anomaly trying to 'balance itself out'. They will either always co exist (much like man and machine now) or have to eradicate themselves as we thought they did at the end of revolutions.

One of the dumbest ideas for The Matrix: Resurrections was the black cat named “Dejá Vu.” And another dumb idea was the character named Bugs. This is Warner Brothers second attempt this year where a character named Bugs who has a connection to a rabbit being the savior of the film itself. Space Jam: A New Legacy and The Matrix: Resurrections are two WB film properties of this year that were a cash grab and included meta humor. But I would say that I enjoyed Space Jam 2 more than The Matrix 4 by storyline, world building, and humor. The Matrix 4 is just a fanboys fan fiction film of The Matrix posted up on KZbin for clickbait and views. There was nothing new here but old characters returning back and looking at their crows feet wrinkles and a lot of exposition that ruins the film itself. Yahya’s portrayal as Morpheus is on par with shit writing that feels like James Gunn, Joss Whedon, and Alex Kurtzman were involved in a drinking game of who could rewrite the script to the first Matrix film in a modern day progressive society first. And lord and behold here we are with this terrible excuse of a new Matrix movie.

One of the best analysis videos on the Matrix Resurrections, pointing out many of thee contradictions and plot holes. One of the plot holes I've never seen brought up is how Sati's parents were killed because they worked on the super pods that Neo (and Trinity) were in, but they were running exiles before those were created and before there was even a plan to create those super pods. Further there were already rainbows at the end of the 3rd Matrix movie, so what's going to be the point to bring them back? It really bugs me how the big message was "It's not a binary choice between two options, there's co-existence possible", yet the real world Matrix is still just as strong and there's no intention of coexistence from the elites to the sheeple, like in the movie the machines using the "copper top" humans.

The thing I hate about this trend of taking beloved franchises and rekicking it back to life, is they never have any creativity in how they do it. It's all box checking. Old cast? Check. The Studios all appear to be in "cash grab" mode: low-effort remakes with the old work referenced to gets butts in seats. Usually, these come with a ton of Studio interference but they knew that giving the Wachokwskis free reign was what worked last time...? Yeah, still difficult to believe.

Only thing worth keeping from the entire movie? "Smith"'s final line. "You know the difference between us Tom? Anyone could have been you, where as I have always been anyone."

Why keanu agreed to do this in the first place is out of the question.

Every time you say "Black Smith" my brain thinks "Blacksmith" "She gets attacked by the guy who moulds steel on an anvil, and flees into an antique shop to hide"

Now, I would have liked to see a continuation of the original Matrix with the machines as the defeated foes they were at the end of the film. The conflict would be that people did not want to leave the simulation.
@BoomerZ.artist3 жыл бұрын
Or here is another thought, the Wachowski's are hacks that got lucky with the first matrix and haven't done anything good after. Speed racer? Cloud Atlas? Jupiter Ascending? all shit. The original Matrix had production people above them, not letting them do stupid shit. After it was a hit they got free rein and we got shit after shit. The Matrix 2 and 3 are not bad movies but they are shadows of the first one, and truthfully didn't need to be made. Nolan, Spielberg, Cameron, actually good directors make good movies beyond their one hit wonders.

Hmm, how would a one hit wonder series on movie directors work? Something similar to Todd's format could work on this family directing duo

Matrix 2 & 3 are the best evidence that the Wachowskis stole the first script.

I think the reason this movie is so bad is shown in plain sight - WB wanted Matrix reboot, they had contractual bonds on actrors or Wachovski or ... and they on purpose dumped big crap on WB in return ... there is no other logical explanation for this fiasco. Keanu acting is awful as well.

Finally! A proper review of this madness. When it's done with consent it's a beautiful experience. But when it's forced it's ugly and disgusting.

The Matrix has so much potential beyond sequels. You don't even have to reboot it to tell interesting stories within the universe. I think it would work great as a TV show. Each episode could easily be a self contained experience with different writers and creators taking it on, just like The Animatrix. The Matrix 4 represented a complete lack of creative imagination, ambition and motivation.
