Isn't she the same woman who ran against the mayor? She started the recall as soon as Sheng Thao won for mayor. If it's that same woman, she doesn't care about the city, she cares about that paycheck. If she truly cared about the city, she should've tried working with the mayor and the city for better changes. Mayor Thao was considered gone months ago. This recent incident is another reason why she should be given the door. If the only reason for the recall was the removal of a police chief, that’s not enough although I would like to know her reason specifically. The judge really didn’t specify anything she did. What was the FBI looking for ? Anyone can make a claim but that doesn’t make it true.

My 2 cents… Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao is ethnically Hmong . Her Hmong parents are refugees from Laos. The Hmong in Laos lived mostly in villages. The Hmongs are actually ethnic Chinese who immigrated from China… settling in Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand years ago. Before and during the Vietnam war, the CIA and the American military recruited the Hmong as scouts. They were jungle experts as most came from the small villages in Laos and Vietnam. They provided the needed expertise about the jungle… the combat zone area (like the Japanese-American Niseis of the MIS during WWII who were Japanese language experts… who shortened WWII by 2 years). I heard a lot about the Hmongs when I was in Vietnam. When the US left Vietnam and let the VC and North Vietnamese take over South Vietnam, many of the Hmong who served with the US Military fled to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines to escape persecution. None of us in the US know what happened to the Hmongs who couldn’t escape. Can only guess. Sheng Thao’s father could have been a Hmong who fought alongside the Americans against the VC and North Vietnamese Sheng Thao is Hmong-Chinese. She is smart… as many Asian women are. She graduated from UC-Berkeley… one of the top universities in the country. Does she need a speechwriter to craft her speech to tell her side of the story? I don’t think so. I don’t think those were crocodile tears you saw when she made her speech. I believe it came straight from the heart.

Sheng Thao needs to go with integrity. She fired the Police Chief and it was her first mistake. Now she associated with business thaw; the city needs a mayor who needs to save Oakland. Sheng comes short of that kind of mayor's quality. She tries but Oakland needs a strong person with solid skills to bring people together to save Oakland. She lost so much opportunities already. The best thing is to step down and allow Oaklanders to find the right leader to lead this beautiful city. It is not Sheng's fault, she just doesn't have the right skills to save Oakland.

This is interesting. First the judge never answered the question who is funding her and this recall effort? Second, Armstrong may have been popular but I recall at least two incidents in which he covered up for police officers inappropriate behaviors and misconduct. One incident had to do with a gun being fired in an elevator at the Oakland Police Department. Armstrong covered up the incident. The Mayor may not be prepared to lead a city like Oakland as it requires a lot of experience and support. Oakland has had poor Mayors and leadership dating back to at least Elihu Harris which was 1991. Mayor Brown in 1999 took over and wasted Oakland's time and resources and he did not understand criminal behavior and minds. At the end of his term, he concluded that their "are dedicated criminals" so had he understood that from the beginning he could have made a difference in that area. The point is, Oakland is in a situation that has become progressively worse and at this point it will need an experienced objective leader to start turning the city around. I can point to other cities in this country that may have had different contributing factors that led to it's downfall but the common thread is each city inherited poor leadership that wasted the cities opportunity to turn things around. One last point, Oakland has loss major sports teams over the years, Warriors, Raiders and not the Athletics. Unprecedented to lose 3 teams in a city that size!

I believe my development would’ve been sooner than later head. I’ve been in a good congregation where this is taught steadily through the last years. But I don’t have a complaint because that’s a story in its self. I did attend a good word church for a while in the 1980s still circumstances cause me to have to move. But I thank God for technology that all you good teachers ministered this beautiful internally so much beautiful work inside of me. I’m now starting at Word of Life in NV. This is my new beginning to be with a congregation that is speaking the same language amongst each each other. I trust I can be a good encouragement to those just starting to walk this out.Having gone through it myself only to find out that It’s all true, just all beautifully true.

The first comment clearly shows this former judge is aligned with the former police chief who was rightfully fired for withholding an investigation of his mishandling of an internal investigation of an unhinged police official who should have been fired. This mayor should resign, however, Oakland needs outside officials such as chief Floyd Mitchell to continue to do his job. He has just come in recently and has no ties to the ongoing corruption that exists in the city. This judge is apart of the problem. She removed her from the police selection committee all because she was outspoken of her dis-approval of the mayors police chief termination that was without cause at a time when laws were being enforced by OPD lead by the chief. You should see now with all the rampant crime and no enforcement why she spoke out as she understands the people of Oakland unlike the mayor. The mayor has been anti-police and law enforcement since she took office as a council woman. She was one of several to vote for a defund of OPD by 50%. Can you imagine how things would have turned out if the prev mayor approved of the defund and it took place?

If that's the case it's not revenge, it's utilizing the process to remove an ineffective or corrupt leader because it's the will of the people 🤦🙄 How about waiting until the results of the recall are in before you go deciding whether it's just revenge or not? If it's revenge then the recall will likely not happen, if it's legitimately the will of the people because she is a bad leader then the recall will be voted for by those people.
