About 15 years ago, while still living in the States, I used "Swiss Coffee" for rather some lower ceilings in our first level of our home. Those days I liked a light vanilla color on the walls. Instead of molding I left a 2 inch very white stripe on the top part of walls - which I curiously noticed later some Europeans do as well. For some reasons this really worked, we loved it. So fun to hear that "Swiss Coffee" on ceilings works for others.

I really really like the darker ceiling with the drapes and fireplace surround. That is pretty and makes the white walls a little more interesting.

First off I love the picture-perfect-yet-liveable look of the room. Many rooms these days on the tube are so stark and high end that the last thing you want to do in them is relax. Also the fact that you use layers and drapes is amazing. I’m an African in Africa and unlike the western extinction of layers and drapes with the new race for floor to ceiling windows that are see through from inside but covered from out, leaving the occupant with a perpetual flood of ‘natural light’ as y’all like to call it, we here are still so fixed on drapes and layers. We have so much sun and heat that we refuse to allow it come into our homes with us. We keep it dark and gloomy (for want of a better word, but you get my drift) here in Africa.

This master bedroom is majestical, absolutely gorgeous, with a wonderful boutique hotel vibe. I personally am not a fan of a bench in front of the bed but I have to say that this one is really beautiful. Benches in front of a bed is a very American thing. I am European and you rarely see that in Europe in master bedrooms. All by all your master bedroom feels like a retreat for the parents to go to after a busy day and the kids are asleep. One word for it all : stunning !

I know when we built our home I used the hell out of pintrest. I would look up "farmhouse floor plan" or "L shaped kitchen floorplan" and it brings up plans from lots of different websights. Find one you like and then talk to a 'residential home designer' to customize the floorplan for you and your specific lot. Its usually best to purchase your lot first so you know what dimensions/ style of floorplan would be appropriate to look at before you get attached to a specific plan. Hope this helps! 😘
