In my experience the more we take in (video games, sex, etc.) the more we question life. But when I reduce the stimulation, I start to not question life as much and live like a kid again, just enjoying the moment and making most of it. I feel like if you’re playing games just to have fun, you never really do. But when you play games because you just want to play it, it usually develops into a fun time.

Quote by Victor Frankl: Life is not primarily a quest for pleasure, as Freud believed, or a quest for power, as Alfred Adler taught, but a quest for meaning. The greatest task for any person is to find meaning in his or her life. In my opinion once a person has learnt to dispel the final illusion: meaning. He becomes truly free.

"Luckily, there is no answer to 'what is the meaning of life.' If there were a single answer, we wouldn't be free; we would all have to live according to that answer, each one competing with the others to fulfill that single meaning more than the others. But luckily, there is no answer, so we can just do whatever we want." This is one of my favorite quotes from Naval.

Can we prove whether there is an answer to “what is the meaning of life?” If not, can we know for sure whether we can get closer to knowig the answer? Given this uncertainty, to me, the meaning or goal in life becomes answering this question to the best of my ability. I have not come across any evidence to suggest that this question cannot be answered, I am assuming that this question has an answer, that answer is the truth about the life and the world. Therefore I am pursuing the truth. I am pursuing wisdom.

In realistic way, Meaning of life is there is no meaning to life. Now you can look at it in a negative way or look at it in a positive way. It is what you choose how you look at it. If there is no meaning to life we can all enjoy each and every moment without worrying about the outcome knowing that we are going to die anyways. Or you can keep sulking about it.

How do we reconcile this uncertainty? Assume that there is an answer and pursue it? If you assume there is no answer, then what becomes important to pursue? I genuinely do not know which is the better assumption. My decision has been to assume that there is an answer because that gives me something to work towards. I don’t know what I would do if I assumed the opposite. Do you have a reason to assume there is no answer? I am very curious to know. Also, what are you then pursuing under the assumption that there is no answer? Thank you 🙏

It's not important what is meaning of life , but rather questioning why this question feels so important to be asked by each and every individual human at certain stage of life , is more important. And the reason is well found with spiritual understanding but only when one understands it from a real guru , by not getting stuck by confused yet confident individuals. It's well written in hindu scriptures called upanishads , about the atma, the real me , which is source of this whole creation , it's true nature is that it is free from death , and that's why we all feel the need to not die . It's true nature is peace , and that's also the reason , we want to get freed from mind .

Dear Naval, The purpose of this human life is to find the Self. Once accomplished your mind will be completely satisfied and won't have to play any of the games ever again.
@user-ph4ub4hx7e3 ай бұрын
Indeed, acknowledging that one transcends the limitations of body and mind is crucial. Discovering oneself as vast, joyous, and peaceful spaciousness removes the entanglement in mundane activities or what Naval refers to as 'games.' Actively participating in the world's array of games, it's vital to experientially realize this truth rather than merely accepting it from sages. My perspective is to engage fully in life's games, and once weary, surrender to the essence of one's true self.

But that doesn't address the bigger game. You're aware of the local earthly games, but you don't know why you're here and what game that's part of. What's the bigger picture? Asking what's the meaning of life is just another way of asking "what the hek are we doing here? Where did we come from? How? Why? Where's this leading towards?" You act as if you are the ruler of your life, but you have no idea who or what put you here, and for what potential purpose. And before you say that there's no such thing as purpose, everything has a purpose, otherwise the universe wouldn't order itself to produce galaxies, suns, planets and life. Such things as laws of physics wouldn't exist without a purpose. Order itself suggests purpose. If you don't like the word purpose, then use function. A bee's function or purpose is to produce honey. It does so, because it's a bee.
@hendrixgryspeerdt20853 ай бұрын
How do we address the bigger game? That is what I am working towards. After reading Eliezer Yudkowsky’s article titled “looking into the singularity” I have been doing what I can to work towards the singularity. The was I see it, to best understand the complexity of our situation we need our minds and bodies to function optimally. So we then work to maintain optimal health to enable mind and bodily function (eat high quality food, drink clean water, be physically active). That is our foundation. If you do not have the time or resources to optimize your health, then that becomes your #1 priority. Then we ensure to understand the fundamentals of logic and methods of mathematical description. This is done so that we can reason and communicate accurately and precisely as we encounter new information. Then with this foundation of logic and health, we identify the various fields of research (areas of uncertainty that can yield results) that in pursuing them allow us to better understand this bigger game. Then as we pursue this research, we understand that computers can do a lot to automate processes and tasks. With research focused AI, computers can work to automate, expedite, and coalesce large amounts of information furthering the research in these promising fields more than humans could alone (This is a big assumption). As a result of the utility of computers, developing high performance computers and software to do automated research becomes a priority. The successful development of computer systems to perform automated research is The Singularity. At this point, the advances in knowledge understanding compound and become unbounded. This is the path I am currently following. Any thoughts or suggestions are strongly encouraged.
