I am so thankful to have videos like this on KZbin. I am reading Johnson's book "The Body in the Mind" now and it is nice to hear him speak and get a sense of who he is. 47:24 This is a great bit and why I like the way Johnson thinks, that emotion is a large part of how humans make sense of the world. If you think about it carefully, it seems most of what normal everyday people understand as "logic" is really based on some sort of emotion, especially in a corporate-capitalist society where branding is a source of information that even constructs identity (e.g., "I'm a Ford man," or "I'm a Democrat," or whatever the corporate-owned media is selling us that consumers latch on to). This bit at 48:17 about the arts being more than mere "entertainment" is a message that I am trying to get people to think about more carefully, because a society that understands art only as entertainment is an artless society, in my opinion. Art becomes valued only as it can be commodified as a form of entertainment to "kill time." It no longer functions as a carrier of potentially critical messages.

It is one thing to read Johnson's book, and another to hear the man speak himself. Thanks for putting this out!

feels like the audience didn't really "see" what he was presenting.
