Honestly, I LOVED the bucket. I had finished getting all the original endings then what’s this… literally all the original endings but with a twist?? And some with wildly different areas and outcomes that build off the original to make even funnier??? People complaining are never pleased. This was a wonderful remaster of the original while building on what it is at its core. It adds new areas, TONS of dialogue… like outrageous amounts of brand new dialogue, lots of fun secrets, and great commentary on fans demanding more and never being pleased. And that hole! *chefs kiss* absolutely brilliant.

I find that the tone in the Ultra Deluxe is too silly (I much prefer the original, and prefer the 2011 version even more). Also, the jokes in the new release all have the subtlety of a freight train (the same goes for the themes in general). I especially disliked what was done to the games ending (the part after you fail the baby game). To me, it feels like a drastic departure from what made the 2011 mod good. I think, probably, the most egregious example of this pretentiousness is when you get to the steam reviews part (actually, the whole initial memory zone section is something I find problematic). That's not to say that I hated the entire experience from start to finish; I just found it to be too on-the-nose for my taste. I can't quite explain it (though perhaps if I took the time break down each part of each version, I might could), but the tone of this version and the previous two are different. The 2011 version is, admittedly, a bit bare bones; but it has a consistent tone (with very little of the humor that we see the subsequent versions, if any). It might not have all the "content" that the Ultra Deluxe has, but it more than makes up for it with quality. More power to you if you enjoyed the new stuff, but I just don't. Again, the commentary was like a brick coming through my window. And just to be clear, I was not one of the fans of the original that was demanding more. Of course, I didn't mind getting more, but it wasn't a desire that would have me demanding the devs to make more. Just thought I would throw that out there.

A very nice look into a game that has basically come out of obscurity, I've seen so many KZbin videos about the deluxe version but haven't seen many on the substance of it. It seems like the developers are completely on the commentary side of this, whether the "lack" of content is intentional, it still gets the point across. Sequels don't always mean better games, and I think Overwatch 2 is the most glaring example of this.

Wonderfully-made! This was my first time playing Stanley Parable, and I quickly figured out which was new and old, and I still thought that, most of the time, the Bucket Endings were much funnier! I guess that's what I liked about the new content in general: it made me laugh more, and that made it worth it to me!

Great analysis! I only played the original and now I want to play the new version to experience it too. Thanks!
