Little Nightmares 2 is Wonderfully Horrific (Review/Analysis)

When I first started getting into little nightmares, it was genuinely terrifying to me, not scary in the usual “oh no it’s a jumpscare” but a horrifying environment and character design. I’m no horror fan, but the hand holding (with mono and six, not any tutorial lol) was enough to help me through (gameplay on KZbin lol, I cannot play these for the life of me and rely on the reactions and jokes of others). Learning more about the game and the world really fleshed out mono and six’s character even with barely any spoken words. And I absolutely love mono and six and can’t help but root for them in every encounter. The ending always hits me right in the heart

Mono is a lot of little nightmares fans favorite character and I think the reason for that is because unlike Six in LN 1 he has someone to fight for other than himself. Monos personally is displayed more throughout the game and we get to know him better than most protagonists. We see him stuggle to find and save six multiple times but no matter what he'll never stop or back down. Exanple the subway scene.

I don't see the ending as a betrayal. Six pulled mono out of the TVs multiple times knowing that something bad would happen, but he opened the door anyways and released the thin man. The thin man then turned her into a monster, which I think is what caused her hunger as well. Once she sees mono's face she realizes that not only did he release the thin man in the first place, but is also the thin man himself, and therefore didn't trust him

I was lucky enough to had not seen any footage or heard anything about LN2. I have the first game but never finished it. Just beat LN2. Wow man this was a wonderful ride. So glad i saw no spoilers because everything was insane in this game.

The color pallete is what i notice changed most. The color pallette of lN 1 was mostly warm colors, and these muted, warm colors made the lighting feel harsh and oppressive. LN 2 has mostly blues and greys, which make the environments feel more surreal and cold, despite looking more realistic.

The developpers managed to keep the horrific ambiance from the 1st game without changing the formula like FNAF did, terribly i must say with SB. Little Nightmares actually felt like an horror game, the sense of danger is trully there, i could even replay the 1st game, and the sequel (or prequel to the 1st), it’s such an horrific franchise.

I was surprised that you thought the keyboard controls were a dealbreaker. Maybe it’s just because I hate controllers, but I had very little issue with turning around, my issue was the slide mechanic (I switched my keybind for it several times through the game since there were times when I needed to switch from keyboard and mouse to just keyboard.)

I have no idea why this doesn't have more views. As someone who is looking to get into game development, this "Critique" of LN:2, is written really well. I'm currently doing a study into how the artistic intention of this game reinforce the world it's built upon, and this video just gives me all the more motivation to keep at at.
