Jonathan, before I watch this I wanted to tell you I just read your article in Comment Magazine - African Stone, Orthodox Icons. Wow, what a beautiful story... I'm so glad you wrote it to share with others. I've been interested in your videos, (when I accepted Christ as Lord 'many moons ago', symbolism began jumping out to me everywhere) but I appreciate your art and thoughts so much more after reading a bit about your journey. PS I'd be interested to hear your take on the symbolism in the Jerry's Razor ad that came on before your video ;)

I realised that you can draw this logo from Sacred Geometry principles (often used in Western Christian Art) - starting with the Seed of Life image and using various proportions found in the drawing itself. The Seed of Life is a 6 pronged flower type shape that all the other geometric drawings come from and has its parallel in the Genesis 6 days. Interestingly you can't get a 7-sided shape out of this method of drawing.
@RepentantRemnant7772 жыл бұрын
The sixth becomes the seventh. The center point of the six-sided shape implies the seventh.
@almondtree2 жыл бұрын
Yeah! It is also the star of David, or the six pointed star. Two triangles integrated with each other, one masculine and the other feminine, which might be the reason for Adam and Eve in the center. The hexagon also maps onto this image, but I’m not sure what that means. I just started noticing shapes recently, and I’m still unfamiliar with the meaning behind them. Say more about this sacred geometry.

O snap, new logo coming¡! Usually, Logos tend yo become less detailed, more consice. I image the new one will be more consiced and less detailed without loosing the meaning in the estructure of the previous logos.

I think you can also see the "In the beginning"-part in the centre of the image, where the hand of God emerges from a sphere of water. That sphrere/circle also seems, as if it would have about the same size as the circles for the days of creation. It is also interesting, that that part is covered by the rest of creation, just like we can percieve creation but only get small glimpses at God from that.

Very interesting, as usual! I think the central portion also represents AIR, in the form of the breath of life from God. If so, then all 4 elements would be represented (2 for light/fire, 2 for water, 2 for earth & one larger circle for air).

'Let there be a firmament between heaven and earth' It's very interesting how this text is quoted right at the top beneath Christ even though it's the second day and Christ is the Light, but he's also the living word dwelling between heaven and earth, serving as both the pillar of creation but also the life (change/serpent) thereof.

Can [iconography] be applied to music? I have an album in the works. I am not in a rush, friend. I am immensely influenced by Jethro Tull's "The Zealot Gene"; and Peter Gabriel’s “Up” (I’ll be looking for his new one due out in 2022). If you can do so kindly please listen to it -it would be time well spent. Fight the good fight! Thanks Jonathan, I am a big fan. Because, Love is (the Spirit that will never die). -may be all talk. I'll be singing soon.

The second verse "Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." is mirrored in the line "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them". The Spirit of God which was hovering a formless earth is now breathed into an image. In the same way the first verse "In the begining God created heaven and earth" is mirrored in the last line "Male and Female he created them". The first duality and the last duality connects like a circle. And of course God being the agent he's above all of this duality and yet the duality points to his absolute unity. "Know that Haq ta'ala has made this realm a sign of his exsistence and unity; and has declared the truth of his wisdom in all of the objects by revealing his art to those who have eyes to see" (Marifetname)

This logo is based on the Tree of Life (Kabbalah). I like Jonathan but his work definitely appears to be esoteric, especially the episode where he denied that Christians enter heaven when they die. What about St Dismas?

It's interesting that the picture shows a distinct link between the cattle and beasts and the creation of man in the middle circle. It's as if all the warm blooded mammals have a special bond. Also, the center image of Adam resembles the Christ after Crucifixion. Not sure if that was intentional.

because of this video I read genesis 1 again. What stuck out to me this time was that there was never the saying "it was evening, it was morning the seventh day" (I have a Protestant dutch bible, so it might not be how it's in your version) like with all days before. Any ideas on what this means?
@johncollins2112 жыл бұрын
i dont know if i missed it but theres a small atch right above christ. is the arch supposed to represent the heavens or the sky. basically space with the starts and planets? im sure i could look this up quickly but ive already started typing this question so im just going to be lazy and see if someone is kind enough to take time from their day to properly explain this part of the image lol. also in the symbol christ is also positioned in the center of the all the other circles that represent the 6 days of creation and the 7th of rest. is christ in the center because he also represents the sun with the 5 revolving planets and 1 illuminary (moon) that revolves around the sun?

I would've liked you to delve deeper into the rationale for why you chose it besides feminine symbolism being out of whack... Yes, we need prayer and worship, and that's feminine. But it clashes with the regality of "the symbolic world" message, which is fundamentally about hierarchy. I get the feeling it's trying to talk about hierarchy in both sense at once (which is appropriate) but the message is somehow split. The Bible speaks from God's perspective, but the feminine speaks from man's perspective. Will the next one be a more vertical or vertical+horizontal image?

If we were created in his image then I find it much more likely that this is a reference to the spirit, I doubt that the creator is in human form. I don’t think being created in his image has anything to do with arms and legs…
