I just wanted to thank Professor Dave for helping me succeed in my scientific studies. I am a pre med student struggling to understand the complex inner workings of muscle contraction. I have been studying for at least eight hours now and i am absolutely exhausted, but this was a good final lecture to finish off the evening, and i will be returning back tomorrow to watch this video and others hes posted which are related to it., .thanks again Dave, we all sincerely appreciate you!

I've always wondered why this was the case. I think i figured it out. Lectures (and lecturers) contain to much information. They are there to provide all the information required to understand a topic, not necessarily in the best way possible. These youtube videos take you through the big picture concepts, and usually in a more dynamic format. Usually at this point, you'll have sat in a lecture, maybe reviewed the content a few times - and not really fully grasped the forest from the trees. These videos help you to cement the concepts, taking all the little details you've consumed along the way, and give them a proper skeleton to bind. That lightbulb moment or wow i get now, is coming from this process. It can happen in reverse, watch a youtube video prior to a lecture that covers the basics or larger concepts. Then in the lecture, you'll have all these little aha moments. Its quite fun (this is also known as priming)

@7792pnaurfr2 жыл бұрын
Prof dave is great and all but all he did was basically read out the steps. This can be found in physiology books. If you couldn't understand it before it means you weren't paying attention in class.
@AKitchell2 жыл бұрын
@@7792pnaurfr Reading from a textbook or listening to a lecture isn't a good learning method for some people, however. Sometimes, a video can cause these concepts to "click" within a person's mind in ways that reading from a textbook or listening to a lecture may fail to do. As such, these videos are much appreciated.

By knowing this you can know how any why someone might be having contractions, seizing or lack of movement. Lack various chemicals in our body. Presence of electricity or other reasons will affect the muscles. The contractions also are important to know how they happen.
