Tony Robinson and his time team travel to Derwentcote near Newcastle in England. They have three days to investigate the ruins of an iron and steel works that produced world class metal from the early 1700's to the 1850's Their interest is based on the number of different processes developed in the area during the time, culminating in evidence the site was much older than first thought.

I think this is the first time Francis didn't claim that the site was 'sacred' in some way. 😁

"Steel is simply a much purer form of iron that's been melted and hammered differently". No, it's not. Not at all. Steel is a combination of iron and carbon. Check your facts, Tony!
@trevorpomroy550
@trevorpomroy550 3 жыл бұрын
What he said is still true, but a little misleading. The melting and the hading adds carbon from the fuel of the fire. It both purifies the iron by removing sulfates and such and adds impurities too.
@Bearak_
@Bearak_ 3 жыл бұрын
@@trevorpomroy550 No. Steel is made of...what? Iron and carbon. Therefore still IS NOT "purified iron", because by very definition, if you're adding something to something else, you're not "purifying" it.

Steel is NOT a 'purer form of iron' It is an alloy, just as bronze or brass are. It's an alloy of iron and carbon. Of course, many other elements can be added to create other forms of steel, ie vanadium, chromium etc. in stainless steels.

In 1972 i was seven years old and sitting on my grandfather's bar stool in his shop. He told me mankind is alot older than the history books tell us. History is righten buy the Victor's. And if you want to find the truth dig for it. If you dont like the history you find dig deaper. Imagine if you coyld take a giant shop vacuum to the Sierra desert or around the pyramid in Egypt. Or if you could drain the oceans these are where the oldest civilization is. I was told this and alot more when i was seven . Thanks pops for opening my eyes and questioning everything through out my life.

@@samfiadrangus9188 , My grandparents had no actual academic training either, but they answered my questions, encouraged me to ask questions, and really opened my eyes and taught me to question. I achieved the actual academic training they did not have the opportunity or finances for, but it's thanks to them.

To see what this may have looked like, the two videos below show a working forge dating from 1775 in Sheffield kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWPbXpWkqtNpbaM and kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6K5ZJ2qoLaGm5Y I have visited the site of the forge which now looks much like the wood in Derwentcote even though it was only demolished in 1953 I would love to see the Sheffield site viseted by Time Teamto see if they could reconstruct what we know it was like as seen in the second video

I look for history before history and find most "myths" include the first people came from the stars and always from the sea,as they were half man half fish then I wonder about some moons in our area that are covered by ice yet under is oceans of water,,,,,,,are the 'fish people" still there?Were they ever from there or did they set up a base where the water is?

I don’t appreciate that Timeline has added these History Hits advertisements with Dan Snow to all their videos and I am considering canceling my subscription since I pay extra for Premium KZbin to avoid ads. I am not interested in Dan’s new channel and I consider his ads a waster of my time and am offended that they have gotten around the removal of ads to Premium subscribers by adding ads at the beginning of every video. Sure, I can and do fast-forward past Dan, but I don’t appreciate it and therefore every video, regardless of quality of content, will get a thumbs down from now on.
