This isn't a human slamming into a building we're talking about, it's a giant shark slamming into a boat in the water. It's not going to make a thud, it's going to shake and push the boat at least a foot to the side. Everybody onboard would have felt it, and the woman climbing up the side would have had to hold onto the ladder for dear life or she'd have fallen back in.
