I'm not an AEW mark here as I've been a WWE fan my whole life, but if AEW were to put on a royal rumble of their own I would be excited just on the roster alone and the potential opportunity to push any number of younger talent into a main event spot - It's sad to see how far WWE has fallen in the eyes of a life long fan.

Usually rumbles are full of mid carders but this rumble was full of lower carders cause 60% of them were tag teams. The thing about Royal Rumbles is, unlike Money in the Bank which is a lot of time won by a mid card wrestlers they want to take a chance on, the rumble winner is almost always an established star. Which makes sense because you want a big name to be in your Wrestlemania title match. The problem these days is that there are so few top stars it's become too predictable who's going to win. In the past few years out of the usual 30 entrants, 28 feel like they have absolutely no chance, one might have a chance in Hell, and one is overwhelmingly the favorite. It just kills the excitement. Compare that to when you had half a dozen wrestlers who could believably win the rumble. I also wonder if all the rumors about wrestlers being unhappy with the winners this year are true. If so, I could see a lot of them going "screw it, I'll just go through the motions." I mean all the stats WWE likes to tout have pretty much become meaningless anyway.

In his red outfit, Rick.... BOOGZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! reminded me a little of one Ted Arcidi.... which was kind of impressive, as Ted Arcidi is a wrestler I'm not sure I ever actually saw, and remember almost exclusively for the WWF action figure I had of him when I was seven.
@horgh_japan3 жыл бұрын
I can't believe someone else thought of the Arcidi thing! The moment he came out in his red singlet I was "Why am I thinking or Ted Arcidi?" Then he started doing strongman stuff and I was like "Are they trying to conjure the spirit of Ted Arcidi? A strongman in a red singlet feels so familiar." With Bearcat Lee, I'm thinking someone backstage has a hard-on for the kayfabe era.

This wasn't a RR for the fans. This was a RR for the investors and potential buyers. Because now they can hype WrestleMania for the next 2-3 months featuring Brock and Ronda to show how big they are to the mainstream media. I bet this time next year 40% of the women and 30% of the men would participated are "future endeavored".

Shanes music is not from the attitude era as Alvarez suggested, it's also not the last time in 30 years fans cared about the product considering this was about the fans in attendance at the ppv in St Louis, 40,000 plus, the same city aew recently had to relocate their ppv due to fears they could not sell out less than half that number.

He's probably an alright dude offscreen but I have to agree, onscreen he annoys the shit out of me. I'd watch the Rumble reviews otherwise.

Concept of Royal Rumble is dead it's a cheap money grab to get legends from the past return for WrestleMania. They are probably gonna have Rock win the rumble next year. I feel sorry for whoever competes in the rumble. WWE super scared to push stars so much so that they didn't even bother giving NXT stars have a showing in the rumble.
@randylynch43303 жыл бұрын
Didn't Shinsuke win in 2018? Drew in 2020? Rollins in 2019? So....cause Edge goes coast to coast in a feel good story and the most realistic result of Brock coming in at 30 and winning is a BAD SIGN????
@dam7ri3 жыл бұрын
WTF was that? The men's rumble was such an abortion, that Teexas would have allowed people to sue the WWE, if it was held in that state. Really, Brock was a surprise entrant in a MITB match, a surprise entrant at Day One, and now, after losing earlier in the night, he is a surprise entrant in the rumble. This is so far beyond ridiculous that it would take the light from ridiculous 2 years to reach this crappy match and the decision-making behind it. I remember when Rey Mysterio got booed, because the crowd wanted Daniel Bryan, but he wrestled earlier in the night, so that wouldn't make sense, even though he opened the show and didn't take a title to the back of the head.

I've been trying to figure out why everyone is saying that this year's Rumble was garbage and I think I figured it out. I don't watch WWE anymore, as I feel their product is complete garbage. So my expectations when watching the few matches I did, were very low to begin with. Those who watch on a regular basis, I think their hopes were high that WWE would bring in some other talent or cool surprise entrants.

Can someone honestly tell me what's the plan after WrestleMania the Roman and Brock match is done? The rumor The Rock versus Roman match is still a question mark and even if it did it's not until next WrestleMania, so again what's the plan after this WrestleMania? They've done most every match possible for Roman Reigns. I mean I guess you could do Drew McIntyre but he hasn't been properly built in forever and that's only a couple of months out of 12 months.

I don't understand why they never have a true surprise Rumble winner... Like someone on the verge of being a big star but who isn't yet. Or an older star like a William Regal (when he was employed) or Shelton Benjamin who is deserving of a huge Mania moment. It's always 1 of 3 people that you expect. That does nothing for them. If you expect it to happen, it doesn't make an impact. It's like who cares? I don't get why you want it to be a non-surprise every year.
