Look, I think Bray Wyatt has tremendous talent when it comes to horror and dark surrealism. The designs, the life-size costumes of The Firefly Gang, Uncle Howdy (in small doses), I mean that's creativity. The problem is, I'm still left thinking "?". The new mask, what's all that about? Why did Uncle Howdy suicide dive into an explosive landing? Where is all this going? Bray really needs to start providing answers instead of non-stop cryptic, overly layered riddles because it's been months already. We're long done with solving the mystery ourselves. Give us something to work with here.

I think Knight was slightly out of place and Howdy had a target he was supposed to hit and hit it. The pyro was supposed to mask the distance between them but it fired off late. If anyone botched it was whoever was controlling the pyro in my view. It's a ridiculously risky spot to make these guys do in the dark so I can understand if they wanted to play it safe. Anyway the worst part is that this sponsored match was a test run, Hunter crowing about sponsorship profits in the press conference tells me they are gonna do this with more matches.

Cult leader Bray was the best version of the character. The promos in NXT were more focused while still having the flowery language. His matches were short and impactful, looked brutal. It all went to shit when they let him creatively expand it away from the Max Cady/Waylon Mercy style delivery and character. It's gotten steadily worse each time, which is a shame, because he's a great performer when reigned in and used well. The Fiend was the worst thing that happened to him, imo.

So this is what I said when Bray came back; I suggested that he would get an immediate push, the fans would all celebrate that FiNaLLY BRaY iS BeiNG PuSHeD!!!! And about a few months in the story would begin to ramble and his push would quickly peter out. Then in about six months he'll get disqualified in a Hell in a Cell match. It's the Fiend all over again. It isn't a Mystery but it's rambling inconsistency. A mystery needs detectable clues. This feels like people are making stuff up as they go along. And eventually the Uncle Howdy will be unmasked as Bo Dallas, someone else who will deflate the crowd I suppose. The difference between Taker and Bray is that Taker's spooky crap had substance rather than rambling teasing, and it was simple to understand - he's a dead guy who embalms people. WTF is Uncle Howdy? Bray? How do you summarise them? Dutch Mantell suggests to make a storyline very simple so that kids and adults understand. That's not necessarily a bad idea.

Its important to remember this is 100% HHH era booking. Some people say you can't blame HHH too much because he's inherited characters and storylines from Vince that need to play out until at least WM. I personally thing there's a lot of bullshit in that claim but sure. HHH reworked LA Knight and introduced Bray building him up for months leading to this. No excuses. I know some people still think HHH is a good booker but I've yet to see the proof. Even Vince was hitting a grand slam with the bloodline up until he left so I can't give HHH credit for that...its probably more Paul Haymen than either of them at the end of the day anyways. Here's hoping after the WWE sale we end up with a head of creative who isn't HHH or Vince.

Fair point, however, he wasn't involved in the Taker vs. Taker match itself and only did comedy vignettes. On the other hand, the Mountain Dew stuff was being promoted IN MATCH by way of the giant logo and influenced the actual match gimmick.

Difference is he wasn't involved in those skits nor pulling off the same references during his Undertaker Vs Undertaker match. No Naked Gun nor Leslie Nielson Tattoos on both competitors either. Bray, on the other hand, had no problem allowing this match, and himself, to be turned into a Billboard for Mountain Dew.

This was actually a pretty cool spectacle under the black light, especially with Brays make up. If it didnt have Mtn Dew plastered all over it and it was an actual decent match it could be a cool gimmick.
