The next anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising is approaching so this is a great opportunity to share this video in social media. People in my country need to know that not only the British were helping the fighting capital.

A great video. Sadly there is another part of the story that that is not often talked about. There were a large number of Russian tanks and troops less than sixty miles from Warsaw but the Russians refused to assist, hoping that the Polish nationalists would be killed by the Germans. England and the US attempted to get the Russians to do something. The Russians said they could do nothing without heavy bombers. So, they were given a bunch of B17s. The used the B17s to drop leaflets urging the Poles to fight on. The battle for Warsaw was over before the Russians came. The first thing they did was raid the German prison camps to get the surviving Polish patriots. They were never seen again. That information is easy to confirm but it is very rarely talked about. It's not very romantic. The Poles fought very courageously against the Germans, only to be murdered, imprisoned, and subjugated by the Russians. Just a bit of history that should not be forgotten.

Stalin was planning the Cold War long before the end of the war. The US was sending an almost unbelievable amount of war materials to USSR, but Stalin, being a psychopath, was unable to understand the act of being grateful.

. To sum it up, courageous South African and British pilots were helping Polish heroes on the ground while treacherous Soviets were sitting and watching from across the Vistula river as Germans were slaughtering Polish fighters and civilians. The fact that Poles under communism were not allowed to express their gratitude to South African and British pilots only confirms Soviets’ hostility toward Polish uprising against Germans. Great thanks to pilots for their help and sacrifice. Polish people appreciate selfless gestures and will never forget.

Why did they go to Poland with polish subscripts? Couldn’t they just have used the postal service?
