Tyler doing Permanent Waves was unreal!!! I believe he is the drummer for the current Queen lineup, with Adam Lambert handing vocals.
@RoarOfWolverine3 жыл бұрын
That guy Tyler Warren who took on doing the entire Permanent Waves album all by himself is unbelievable. He not only got every instrument near perfect, but even his mix sounds just like the production of the original album which was recorded on analog equipment in 1980, so matching the sound of the production had to be a chore. His vocals are also spot on. I still can’t believe that one guy can play every instrument as good as Geddy, Neil and Alex.

I just retired from playing bass for the past nine years in a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band, and I can tell you from personal experience that it is incredibly hard work being in a tribute band. We learned and rehearsed 65 TPATH songs, including all the hits and deeper cuts, and these musicians playing in all the various Rush tributes deserve all the accolades coming to them. I know they work incredibly hard to sound as good as they do, and I tip my hat to all the ladies and gentlemen in all the Rush tributes. Well done, everyone! Alex, Geddy and Neil (RIP) would be proud!

Tyler Warren actually did the entire Permanent Waves album, playing every instrument himself. Not only was all of his playing on every instrument incredible, but he even matched the sound of each instrument and the overall mix and production was nearly perfect to the sound from that very analog time. It’s brilliant! You ought to check out the entire album cover. It’s worth the time.

2:50 - I've been watching the Tyler Warren vid for a couple years now. Blew my mind when I first saw it. Then discovered YYNOT a week ago. Now there's too many! AAGGGGG! Actually, this is refreshing. When Neil Peart died, a big part of me went with him. I'm 55 and have been listening to Rush almost daily since the age of 13. Permanent Waves was the first cassette tape I ever purchased (for my BOOM BOX, of course). Long live the music, no matter what form it takes. I only had the pleasure of seeing Rush live twice on the Test for Echo tour, but seeing them play Natural Science live was a life-changing experience. Now if only YYNOT would cover Circumstances? You can do it, Rocky! To everyone with the guts to attempt covering Rush - my hat is off. If I ever have the chance to see you live, I'll buy you a beer.

Thank you Mr. Wolfe, I thoroughly enjoyed your second video of Rush Tribute Bands!!! I agree with you so much that their music should be definitely kept alive, because in my opinion they were the best three-man band ever, and along with Jethro Tull probably one of the best progressive rock bands ever🎸🎸🎸
@deanwolfechannel2 жыл бұрын
I have to explore J Tull more- I'm quite underexposed tho them
@YedMan012 жыл бұрын
Jethro Tull is a progressive rock band formed in 1967, and they’re only drawback is that they’ve had many band members. However, in progressive rock circles, Ian Anderson I believe who now is the only original member left is definitely a top 10 musician and top-five progressive rock musician. Ian Anderson is a very very talented man, that introduced the Flute into Progressive rock. The long long time guitarist for Jethro Tull , Martin Barre also provided years of stability, and in my opinion is an excellent guitar player. Jethro Tull is a band based in England, and I believe it was early on that Tony Iommi played guitar for them for a short period. Anderson and Barre, were such a good team, that they were able to interchange other musicians, without any real difficulty!!! One of Jethro Tull’s most famous songs Is their title track of the album Aqualung!!! Anderson is so talented, not just at songwriting, but playing instruments!! Besides playing the flute, he quite often played the acoustic guitar in concert, he is also known to play electric guitar bass guitar, keyboards , Saxophone and harmonica!!! He played a few more instruments which I can’t even pronounce, plus I don’t know what they were!!!! I am a retired bassplayer, which is why Mr. Lee of Rush, is definitely the best one I’ve ever heard in my life. My lead guitarist from our band is a huge Jethro Tull Fan, so he can describe what I’m talking about better than I am able to. Jethro Tull’s albums Thick As A Brick, and A Passion Play are concept albums. Rush in their early days released mostly concept albums, or Concept Songs!!! One of my favorite Tull Songs, is off the 1987 Album Crest Of A Knave, and the song’s name is Farm On The Freeway!! That song has some of the best Ian Anderson flute and Martin Barre guitar I’ve ever heard!!!! I like it so much because in music, as Geddy Lee of Rush once said, it’s great to know all the chops and riffs. But what it comes down to is the feel of the music, and I couldn’t agree more. He has so many great bass runs, but one of my favorites is not a complicated one but it’s one of the most tasteful bass runs in music.,and is the last bass run in the song vital signs off of moving pictures, the way I feel about that song it’s the same way I feel about Jethro Tull’s Farm On The Freeway, Both songs are so well written and so well performed musically that you could just taste how delicious the music sounds if that makes any sense!!! Please check out Jethro Tull, and I’m only familiar with the early albums up to 1987, as I say my friend and guitarist he knows every album every song they’re his favorite band!!!

Shout outs to: the bass player of Femmes for recording next to his washer/dryer, and the Stage Left drummer's Mystic Rythms sounds really nice -- okay actually, there's too many shout outs for me to list. I will say Tyler Warren needs to be disqualified -- clearly he's an alien as his one man band Permanent Waves full album performance is not humanly possible haha ;) Seriously, superhuman.

On a couple of these covers, especially the ones where the arrangements are stripped back you just marvel at the vocal melody and lyrics of those HYF era songs. Neil was such a genius for writing those words and Geddy just as much for making them sound as great as they do.
@YedMan012 жыл бұрын
I agree, Neil‘s lyrics are fantastic. He is the number one drummer percussionist in rock of all time. Geddy Lee, Who just happens to be the number one bass player of all time in rock history, Geddy Lee also is on my list of top five musicians of all time. Mr. Lee not only sang lead vocals for all Rush songs, he played keyboards he played the best bass ever, he played rhythm guitar on Xanadu a live video, actually him and Alex both had double neck guitars Alex had a six and a 12 string electric, while Geddy lee had his bass on the top neck and a six string guitar on the bottom neck!! But for Getty Lee to sing those complex Neil pure lyrics while playing his base runs at the same time puts him in the top five of the best musicians of all time🎸🎸🎸 not many bass players Saint Lee vocals other than Geddy Lee and Les Claypool

I liken it to the "uncanny valley" in graphics where things get *really* close to lifelike but are just off enough to be "creepy"; or maybe like when you are trying to match pitch and you get that "wobble" when close but not quite? regardless, I can't help but focus on any details they miss...that said, I still LOVE that so many are inspired.
