I have to believe that the owners felt horrible for their flock too, knowing that they needed care and being unable to provide it due to some major life issues, their entire farm has been through so much in the last two years. I appreciate how you are treating them all with so much dignity and respect even though this is probably one job you wish you could pass on to someone else, thank you for being their champion and helping them return their lives to normal.

Some days are total shit, indeed. Your total shit day was life saving for those sheep. Your total shit day gave the owners of the flock a bit of sanity and breathing room back in their lives. Your total shit day worked wonders. I don't doubt that the job at this farm was both mentally and physically draining. That total shit day meant you needed the broad shoulders to bear the heavy load. You and Darian took on a monumental task. Going from one sheep to the next must have made you feel like Sisyphus. You came out of it like Atlas. You had the weight of these sheep's world on your shoulders. You came through it like a champ. Kick back with a cold drink and listen to "We Are the Champions" by Queen, because you ladies are truly that to these sheep. Blessed be.

@stephmorgan74442 ай бұрын
I've never sheared a sheep before but I 100% recognise the way you're sitting on the floor in the end, much like the farmer who just unloaded 6 trailers of baled hay only to realise there's another 110 acre field waiting, this posture is universal in agriculture and translates in English to "If I just lie down here and die, someone else will have to finish my work, right?" You should get hazard pay and protective gear, like popsicles and ceiling fans ;)

Are there people who say shearing sheep is cruel!? Domestic sheep need to be sheared because their fleece does not fall off like a wild sheep. These sheep that Katie is shearing are an example of what happens if sheep aren't sheared. People need to use common sense.
@tinydepresso2 ай бұрын
@@westzed23 Sadly, yes. Peta also tries to spread propaganda about how shearing sheep hurts them, which is insane. Yes, nicks can happen but to not shear a sheep is animal cruelty on it's own. Spread awareness about shitty shearers and try to make sure every farm has reputable shearers, not spread lies about a coat that the sheep can't shed on it's own :')

I still can't get over the fact that this was only 14 months of growth. It shows how important it is to sheer herds on schedule, even if most sheep wouldn't mat up quite this quick. And also shows just how devastating loosing a long time sheerer can be. I'm so glad these farmers got on your wait list and will be back to their regular sheering schedule from now on, and I'm sure they're relieved that they won't be seeing their heard like this again.

Honestly I find it very interesting that you have this outlook on these animals. The knowing how hard your job is and understanding that the patient it takes to deal with animals that are overgrown with their fur and over matted. It takes an extreme amount of patients to do with this kind of thing. And the fact that you can find some beauty in the mess is quite amazing.
