The idea is that when she asked for the food to go, she proved a point. Yes, she was a taker, but she takes because she has nothing. She proved that she is the only one who actually enjoys the art of cooking for what it is. It should be love and love that is accepted. His entire life has become serving bougie food for bougie people who don't even understand it. And he would've never been able to hone his art without them, the rich, the vain, the critics , the obsessive fans who actually just like his food because it's bougie.

The mother represents complacency. That's why she was there. Same with the female chef. Despite the sexual harassment, she never left and just put up with it. The reason he lets Margo go at the end IS because "it all has to come together." The final dish has to be the death of all these joyless, passionless, fake, tools of people who think only of themselves. Margo proves she can empathize with another person (hitting on the cheeseburger) and that's why he let her go. If he had added her to the final dish, it would have ruined it.

My sister thought it was garbage, my brother thought it was ok, my other sister had no thoughts and I thought it was pretty good. I saw what they were doing, really parodying foodie culture and how cult-like kitchens and chefs can really be. Also how some chefs and restaurants stray away from making actual fucking food and instead opt for just a very adorned and minimalist dish instead of something a lot more fullfilling but less artsy like a cheeseburger.

I disagree. There was absolutely nothing to suggest that he put anything in the food. Especially with him being such a perfectionist chef - i don't think he would add anything unnecessary. I think the guests did a good job of "walking on egg shells" the whole time because nobody really knew what was happening most of the time. They acted like how you would act if you believed there might still be a way out of this if you didn't provoke.

Also: a few of the guests DID properly freak out. One of them having the swift justice of having a finger chopped off. And if you remember - towards the end the chef literally brought up the fact that if the guests wanted to they probably could've bum rushed them all and it probably would've worked. It just happened to be another convenient personality quirk of the kind of cowardly, spoiled, and sheep like people that he selected to the dinner in the first place

I thought the movie was pretty tasteful and well done, I enjoyed watching. That said, I thought the ending could've used an alternative route. For example, Erin/Margot could've heard the explosion, but in her angst to get the he'll out of there, continue to go away. She THEN realizes that the motor stopped, the energy went out and shes trapped in the middle of the ocean and accepts the fact that she was also part of the menu (because we don't know anything about her, it doesn't make sense that she is watching them burn on this higher moral level and survives). Margot then sees there's nothing else to do but eat a burger and accept her fate. Idk, a little twist at the end would be the cherry on top

I feel like the only one who does not see why everbody cums over this movie. Admitted, Ralph was amazing, there were some good chuckles and suspense in first half and then it just goes and becomes somewhat bizare and all of the sudden people accept being burnt alive while one chick goes home - no questions asked? Also, why is everybody so obsessed with Anya? She was fine here but nothing more. She is basically the same character in every movie/series I see her: the snarky attitude-girl that is seeing two time-zones at the same time. Cool, but nothing to write home about. Amusing movie but as a "Horror-Dark-Comedy": what were the huge laughs? Where was the scary/fear factor? And where is the biting, sharp critic? Good moments but ultimately lacking for me.

So I have worked in both fine dining and BBQ. The guests as wild as they are were highly believable and have seen some form at my tables before. The staff being that cult like is real, high end chefs do run on militaristic lifestyles and discipline at that level cooking. Obv they are turned to 11 for a movie, but the pressure to impress, break ground, or be recognized can break a lot of people in their chase for that perfect food kind of stuff. As a viewer me and my girl who is in the industry this was very much wish fulfillment of what some dark thoughts at closing at 4am about terrible guests and critics. It broke down every person point by point at their worst, which commonly reverse they do to us about food for free, so seeing it returned and so planned out was chefs kiss lol. The tacos alone made me die laughing in the theater 10/10 will likely rewatch soon just for Tylers Bullshit scene among others. SPOILER: the loop hole at the end is perfect, because it rewired his brain to robot cook and please while giving her an out that fits commonly in culinary terms. PS: Alex look of judging them about grilled onions 25:56 on a burger made me believe he really is the cook HAHAHAHA

The foodie did claim to be a good cook. Early in the full he claimed to own a piece of equipment that they have in the kitchen.

Such a great movie! I felt bad for Leguizamo's character, but I'll be damned if I didn't burst out laughing at the justification. I was able to suspend my disbelief enough because of how solid the main story and the drama was, and the phenom acting by Fines, Holt, and Anna Taylor Joy (and supporting cast, like the Asian hostess) were such a joy to watch!

@Ribotto Studios , as you should. Parents should strive to create a better world for their successors than the one they enjoyed. I have no idea where it suddenly became cool to say, "my parents have the financial acumen or forethought to set aside a college fund." 😂

was hoping the menu she used to wipe her lips showed the "last course" as cheeseburger, and the protein chef used is from the aged meat they showed in the beginning, but aged one hour too long

i think there is a different ending to this, notice how the movie set up the poisonous meat (aged a day too long) and margos last scene, she seems remembering something and then her look is as if shed given up on something kind of giving in to the fact that she also will die (by burger)

As a chef I've worked in different kitchen environments. From the classic french military style upscale kitchens to more team focused and small kitchens. Currently a private chef. I'm excited to see this movie. The Chef consultant on set was 3 Michelin star Dominique Crenn. I can imagine the food and setting looking so pretentious but accurate.

So I believe he hand picked his staff as he was the best and of course the best and most passionate would want to study under him. They could have included some recruiting type scenes, but I like that they didn't. The staff represents the middle class and poor finally saying "no more". It was a dark comedy and I thought it was gonna end with the big C so I was definitely asking for the ride. I loved the twists and messages. I grew up in this industry, was in it for 30 years so I really can't recommend this movie enough. Go see it!!

I used to have this thought whenever I would watch "Hell's Kitchen" and they would cut to the diner's reactions to Gordan Ramsay's food. how these pretentious LA people were not worthy of the food/art he would create. It's a great concept.
