On Netflix, I recently watched a John wick lite movie with a mute protagonist that was better than this movie sounds. It's called, appropriately enough, Mute. It stars Stellan Skarsgard as an amish mute in a cyberpunk future looking for his missing girlfriend and beating up gangsters with a plank of wood. The movie has dialogue because only the main protagonist is mute AND it also stars Paul Rudd as a guy who is much more of a morally reprehensible villain than he typically plays. Plus, it also features a brief appearance of the living legend that they call "The Don" from the billion dollar film Captain Marvel. Is it better than John wick? No. But I would recommend giving it a watch because it seems to me like it had a similar basic premise to this movie, but it sounds like Mute did it better.

I still find it bizarre how he was in Altered Carbon for only one season. I thought he was incredible in that show and when he left season 2 was not the same at all. It seems like the actor makes a lot of bad decisions. Altered Carbon was like Cyber-punk and I think it could have easily had 4 seasons if he had stayed and with Cyber-Punk 2077 and the anime it would have probably got even more eyes on it.

John Woo is reportedly making his comeback to American action projects, after a nearly 20-year hiatus. The legend of Hong Kong action filmmaking is said to be partnering with John Wick franchise producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee for Silent Night, a high-concept project that will see Swedish actor play a father looking for revenge in the criminal underworld after his son is murdered.

Haven't seent the movie yet, but an important difference between this and last year's fantastic Violent Night is that here his child gets killed, which just causes the movie to take on a much different, much harder, darkerm, sadder, more tragic tone. I want my stupid fun christmas violence movie to be fun, not make me sad. People being threatened by ludicrously evil villains, but the hero preventing actual deaths through hilarious violence. Here, his child actually got killed, so this is a way too dark actual revenge movie, not something I can enjoy and laugh at because the dead child is always on your mind. It's not light-hearted enough for me. Maybe it hits different as a father, but I'll stick with Violent Night, much more fun and nothing actually tragic in the story to dampen my enjoyment.

The wife's limited interaction with the hero becomes awkward and makes him look like a very bad husband. It would have been better to kill her off together with the kid and give the hero even greater reason for revenge. The villains in this movie are also very one dimensional. The kid was killed by mistake and the main baddie arguably does the hero a favor by shooting him with a shot that should be fatal and spare him from grief. How the hell did that bullet not pass straight through the throat and spine and kill him instantly? And even if the vocal chords are destroyed, he should still be able to at least whisper. It's not like he lost his tongue. Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon is an identical but better movie. Movies with minimalist dialogue can be done well. Conan the Barbarian and the first Mad Max are great for example.

Thanksgiving is good. Too bad about this one. I was really looking foward to it. If you want to see a good Christmas action movie watch Cobra.

Dont say it's not innovative! I lost it for the 56th time when a stunt guy on the stairs gets shot dead, rolls down 5 steps, lands on his feet, is immediately picked up and being used as a body shield HAS TO WALK UP THE STAIRS BACKWARDS helping the hero to use him.

This was just sad and dumb, wtf John Woo!??! 3/10 for me and Joel Kinnanmon gets all the points. I also love how Kid Cudi comes to the building without a bullet proof vest and he and Joel pop out when the bitch is still shooting and get hit lol 😂 wtf!!!

It was very disappointing the movie doesn't have the complex and well crafted action scenes like John wick. Which is disappointing since John Woo created the Gun Hoo genre
