my half time job is to put Mercedes G Wagens onto train waggons for export. These cars are produced right next to my workplace in Graz, Austria. I mainly drive G63s and G500s because these are the most wanted configurations ordered outside of Europe. Still enjoy every ride although im not allowed to go around fast corners with these brand new cars. I have also driven the older model G Wagen with the 5.5l biturbo and i really prefer the older ones when it comes to engine power. The 5.5l has such a high torque its very impressive, even compared to the 4l, which is also nice.

U know I said the same thing when I first drove the new 4L twin turbo engine. I thought the 5.5L felt much more torquey. The new engine is nice but there was something special about the 5.5L twin turbo, it felt like it was a little more angry, where the new engine feels more relaxed.. just my opinion. I drove both engines in both AMG and regular benz spec and the torque feel was the same respectively

Agree with all of you - New Jimny, G-Wagen, Wrangler, Land Cruiser have kept their valuable DNA and "off-road" look. Defender has thrown away all its heritage by stopping production - and will the New Defender look similar to the previous one - like all the above have managed to do? What I can confirm though is that if you listen to the audio through headphones it is flat, muffled and distorted, so it's hard to tell (but you are obviously in the know if you say he did). However, suck in front of the camera? He most certainly does not..

g63 is 50k plus over if you're lucky.... picked up 1 of 12 Warriors Edition with white platinum interior and added Weistec double tune with turbos and fabspeed cutouts... Brembro Brakes.... matte silver with carbon wheels and carbon highlights... come to dallas and check it out... hands down my favorite build.... the power in this will make harris put a helmet on!!

They wouldn't let me look trough the window not to let me drive one :) It is not about the drive. I'm sure it drives better - any new car from any brand is better and drives better then the car it replace... The problem is I don't like the look of this generation, especially the daylights, and I quite don't like most of interior as well. But most of all I like the ruggedness of the old one and the V8 kompressor is probably the best engine Merc has ever done and they have plenty of awesome engines...

Ikr the M113k was a great AMG engine. And the 5G Tronic it was coupled to was more than capable of handling the torque. This engine and gearbox in most of the Merc models in that era (2000-2007) were really nice. 👌

Always had a soft spot for the G Wagen, and the sound of that. When you compare PCP deals of today, I suppose it would be £200 more a month than a Range Rover. To be different. I've got a glorious Alfasud, and an epic Seicento Sporting (grey) for a daily commute. I can't often go above 20mph, and the Fiat will have anything 0-20 😂😂
