G wagon facts : This was first commissioned by the Shah of Iran, who was at the time a significant shareholder of Mercedes. Regarding many articles on the internet yes ! The genesis for the G-Wagon came out of an unrelated but massive 20,000-truck order from the Shah of Iran in the 1970s. A significant shareholder in Mercedes at the time, the Shah's order also stood for a tempting deal. To fulfill the Shah's requirements, the carmaker required external help in its production phase. This led to Mercedes collaborating with Steyr-Daimler-Puch, a military equipment manufacturer based in Austria. SDP built famous war machines like the Pinzgauer, a military transport with available 6-wheel drive systems. Mercedes further extended this collaboration when the Shah suggested that the vehicle be built as an all-wheel-drive SUV for military use in his empire

Something good about this car is that there are mechanics who can upgrade the exterior to make it look like the new one so with that you can get sort of an experience of a new one for cheap and you can go off-roading without worrying to damage anything

It's funny because 99% of people can't tell the difference between the two. They'll see a AMG G-Class with 200,000 miles that costs 40 grand and be like "whoa!, that guy must be rich".

The development of the G-Class started in 1972 with a cooperative agreement between Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Graz, Austria. The W460 was introduced at a press event held at the off-road proving ground in Toulon, France, and went on sale in September 1979 with three engine choices and five body variants. The first-generation M-Class, designated under the model code W163 is a body-on-frame SUV where production moved to the U.S. plant near Vance, Alabama. Since the original G-Wagon was more utilitarian vehicle, Mercedes had to make the M-Class more car-like for the US Market (No exposed door hinges for example). When I heard they were bringing the G-Wagon back as utilitarian as the version in the 70's( with only a few upgrades) and they expected people to pay many time more then the current GLE line( with is still more suited for the US market, you're not going off-road, you' re going to Whole Foods.).I said to myself nobody who Googled the previous would be ignorant enough to pay that much. I was wrong. The people who fell for this don't research. THEY FOLLOW.

Mercedes-Benz engineers in Stuttgart were in charge of design and testing, while the team in Graz developed the production plans. Now when we got the 2019 model with 2 huge LCD the older one just looks like form 18 hundred)) And now i only want new one, However that front grill looks like from a cartoon or suzuki samurai. so i would rather have an old classic body with the new interior )) How is that for a set up ))???

@@damilolaakanni Perhaps. But so much more make the G much bigger than many cars. Width is a big factor, and the G63 is 199 cm wide without mirrors. Very few cars are that wide. Reality is that outside of a Burp or Yukon XL, few SUV's are as big. Length is rarely an issue when you live with a car, but width is. Not quite sure how he adjusted the seats in this video, but rear legroom is plenty big in the back of the current G63. He is tall, but even for his height he seems to have long legs. Wondering if he was just trying to find something interesting to say.

This is why I happily bought a 2011 Cayenne S with nearly loaded features (only missing moonroof, turbo and air suspension) for $18,500 in late 2020. Cuz I also know for sure that it rides, drives and is faster. I can't think of one thing its missing except newer electronics... just mind blowing status stuff here lol. At least high end lambos and mclarens are faster overall than a 'vette.
