Explanation about Latch/glovebox situation, from a Product Designer and Engineer: 1- They are made of two different materials, plastic and leather, which age differently. Matching he colors at the beginning means only that they will look extremely bad very soon. Plastic changed the color easily. So, designing them to be different from the beginning is the best choice. 2- Covering the latch with leather makes it possible to match he colors. But actually choosing different colors give the object accent and shape. ... I hope that helps

A big thing Doug missed on this are the build numbers. Mercedes has not really released official numbers but North Am numbers are circa 2800 for hard and soft top. Break down is less than 900 Roadsters(1 in 3). RHD is way less. I have a RHD roadster and I estimate between 220-300 globally. There are only 60 odd in the UK(1 in 5). Why is this a big thing? These are seriously collectible cars. I brought mine(in NZ) 2 years ago, it is up 50% since then. It is not about money though. These cars are cool, very different and tick a lot of boxes. They will keep rising and because the Roadster is so rare it may outperform the hard top despite the doors.

fun fact, the convertible cost roughly the same as the coupé in sweden where i live. right now is the cheapest sls a coupé closely followed by a convertible which is just a tad cheaper than another coupé and yes, you are right. top down gives you more sound, but the sound is plenty enough in the coupé with the added benifit that it is nicer on longer drives. and for the people who wonder, i'm no fan of a convertible, it is because they weigh more, are less stiff, have more wind noise when the top is up and I personally think they don't look as good with the top down as a coupé does. but that is just me so if you love your convertible is that awesome! all that matters is that you love your own car

The looonnnggg front end is necessary in order to create the "front mid-engine" weight distribution. Thus the heavy V8 is not sitting out above the front wheels. It is back in the chassis nearer to the center of mass in order to improve handling, not because of a design idiosyncracy. Thus also the transmission is at the rear, behind the driver, to achieve a near 50/50 weight distribution. If you collapse the space between the engine and the front end, then you no longer have the advantage of the balanced weight distribution.

I feel whenever Doug wants to buy a car he just massively depreciates it by roasting it on a video.

No Doug, the back up key hole is for if the battery in the key fob dies, the owner can still drive their car. Unlike most keyless start cars that have a pocket or you just push the button with the fob, Mercedes gave you a full key ignition like the rest of their models in they key generation had. Also, the parking sensors are still the ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers, as they are today, the bar is just the warning lights.

Doug, the long pocket on the bulkhead in the trunk is for storing the glass wind break when it’s not in use 👍🏻

The Roadster hasn't. Can get one for GBP130k in UK. The gullwing, though... It's now back at its original price. Or more. GBP200k would not be weird.

The parking sensor indicator is the same on each E-Class (and also SL) of this era - love it since it doesn´t sound annoying, and the rear indicator is visible in the rear-view mirror.

If you look carefully, the aircon vents are in black as well. Perhaps this model has some sort of special ‘black-pack’ to keep some components / trim pieces black in color hence why the glovebox lever is black as well!
