Yes. Plus since ancient times making the wolves out to be bad guys, when they really weren't. When humans invaded their territory, cut down forest & killed or scared off their prey, & then tried to raise livestock there, the wolves were bound to try to get a meal any way they could.
@TwoCentReview6 жыл бұрын
Tamara Smith Predators get really poorly portrayed in general because children see an animal that kills to live as something bad and something that eats grass as good. The truth is, of course, more complex because herbivores will breed out of control if they have no predators. Neither is good or bad, both of them make a circle that pushes and pulls on each other. It’s part of the reason that I don’t squish spiders or kill snakes.
@AuntJemima69856 жыл бұрын
I was thinking that too, I'm glad someone brought it up.
@tamarasmith90606 жыл бұрын
Yes. My mom doesn't understand that I'd rather scoop up a spider & put it outside to help control pests like mosquitoes. I understand part of her phobia comes from an unusual incident as a kid where her brother had one get inside his ear, but *he* doesn't mind them. There is 1 common poisonous spider dangerous to young children where I live, but they like woods or under houses where it's dark, they rarely get in homes & don't hang out in the yards either. A few months ago someone told me how she killed a grass snake with a rake because it was on her porch! She knew what kind it was so knew it's not dangerous but helpful, it wasn't trying to get in her house. She could've just walked towards it & scared it away, but she killed it.

The reason behind the Wolf's supernatural lung capacity is probably the wolf's ability to howl. People often came up with really weird answers to any questions they had, like the idea of the four humours and such.
@RoronoaZoro-ur6hr6 жыл бұрын
Kitty Wood you're answer really is the best answer to explain the wolfs lung capacity, but I haven't seen an explanation behind the butter torn.
@KKLaurelye6 жыл бұрын
Well, a butter churn would be a really useful item to have. It doesn't look exactly like a barrel, most being strangely thin, so more like a thin log. If I had to venture a guess, I'm guessing it was meant to parallel hiding in a hollow log. A wolf would be afraid of a log rolling at them, since some of them can be pretty big and even smaller ones can cause a lot of damage.

I had wondered how the first version of the Three Little Pigs had gone. I had seen many versions where sometimes Pigs 1 and 2 will live and sometimes they will get eaten by the wolf. I guess whoever did the adaptations where Pigs 1 and 2 are not eaten probably didn't want to upset any children or didn't like killing off good guys. As it just so happens, the whole part where the wolf tries to get Pig 3 to go out with Pig 3 waking up earlier than the wolf, with the butter churn at the end, I have only seen one other version of the story that brings in those parts. I don't know who made that version, but after watching this, I now know that version was the closest adaptation to the original story that I have ever seen. I think that Pigs 1 and 2's houses getting blown down by the wolf was a good message to teach kids that work pays off. You can either not work and face the consequences later, or do work and be safe in the end. But what Pig 3 was doing with the Big Bad Wolf in the original story sounds more like there wasn't a lesson to be learned, the pig just already knew what to do to outsmart the wolf.

Yes, the Depression was called the Big Bad Wolf and who was afraid of it?.......everyone. The Jewish outfit is the main reason most Jews are convinced that Walt Disney was an anti-semite. Most Jews don't know the cartoon but hate him just the same. Although Walt used Jewish composers for nearly all his later films songs and there is really no tangible evidence of his being a Jew hater. He did have a conflict with the cartoonists union whom he referrred to as Communists and said so in the HUAC hearings. Thanks again.

@kbennett25876 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. Dave the pig used his wits to out smart the wolf. I knew the brick would be better, he tricked the wolf several times, and tricked the wolf into an act that killed him. Basically, wits and cunning things you need in life.
@despicablepenguin6 жыл бұрын
kbennett2587 I don’t think he was too cunning. I mean it was an obvious plan that anyone can figure out except for maybe the wolf apparently since he’s dumb. Though putting hot water and closing it was smart. And I can’t explain the butter churner thing, that was just dumb luck.
@nicholas33546 жыл бұрын
@@despicablepenguin Maybe the butter churn is for suspense. See, I thought the wolf would eat the pig full of turnips and apples and covered in butter. So maybe it's just playing with possibilities and expectations to keep the reader guessing.
@kbennett25876 жыл бұрын
@@despicablepenguin while I agree that was dumb luck with the butter turn. The wolf being dumb is to show that you while strong and powerful the wolf was an idiot. While the schemes were not too cunning the schemes of Dave ready cunning enough for a child reading or being told this story would understand.

All fairy tales and mythologies are ultimately about the human psyche either idividual or collective. The pig building with straw represents the psyche of the infant and child--not able to withstand the perils of reality which are represented by the wolf. The pig building with sticks represents the adolescent psyche, a little stronger than the child psyche, but no match for realities of the real world, again represented by the huffing, puffing wolf. The pig building with bricks represents the mature, individuated psyche of an adult, fully able to to navigate the perils of reality. In the most accurate version of the story, the "straw" pig runs to the house of the "stick" pig when under duress and subsequently, the two run to the house of the "brick" pig where they all live in safety happily ever after. It's an accurate depiction of a mature individuated psyche wherein the inner child/adolecsent dwell together inside the mature, adult psyche--secure and balanced.

I first get to know more "original " version of the tail(I do not remember how old I was exactly but it was before primary school) so when I first saw Disney version I was confused why the two other pigs did not end up being eaten by wolf.
@Exhausted_Pigeon5 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon, I don’t know if anyone answered this already, but to me, I took “blow the house down” figuratively. It seemed that wolf physically knocked down/charged at the house to get to pigs 1 & 2. Trying to charge at a brick house would’ve surely hurt the wolf (lol) that’s why he couldn’t get in, resulting in all those shenanigans. That also reminded me of the phrase “well, blow me down” which was an actual saying used frequently by sailors (also, think Popeye), meaning to knock down. There’s also an old song “Blow the man down” if anybody’s interested in looking it up.

In the Disney adaptation, the third pig was voiced by Pinto Colvig, who was the original voice of Goofy. Colvig would reprise the role for Disney in "Three Little Wolves", where Big Bad Wolf has three nephews and teaches them how to trick the pigs. He would also play the pig in an MGM-released WWII-era cartoon directed by Tex Avery titled "Blitz Wolf", with the wolf portraying Hitler.

I don't know about the story's metaphorical significance, but I think the moral is about the wolf and not the pigs. If you're a "wolf", you've only got so much time before you're eventually bested (either by the police or a victim), and one of the ways you meet your downfall COULD be from one of your victims who treats you like you treated them. The wolf getting cooked in the pot and then eaten was his just reward, since he was going to eat the last pig anyways.

First, pigs are occasional cannibals and will eat a human if the opportunity arises, so the sausage picture wasn't too out of place. Second, I don't think you can ruin my childhood, given how rough it was. As far as making it weirder, you're talking to a guy whose great ambition is to run through Toronto in the dead of winter wearing a Speedo, a boot with no socks or laces on one foot, a dress shoe with two argyle socks on the other, a rake in one hand and a baby doll in the other and a pair of tighty-whiteys on my head. NOTHING can make me or my childhood any weirder. LOL 😏

In first grade, my class read a picture book of The Three Little Pigs, which told a similar story to the old one by James Halliwell-Phillips. While it didn't include the Big Bad Wolf's schemes to get the third pig (Dave) out of the house, it did include the Wolf eating the first two pigs and the Wolf going down the chimney, getting cooked alive and eaten by Dave.

We had to do a play, in kindergarten, on the Three Little Pigs, and it sorta ended like the original. All the pigs survived, the wolf goes down the chimney and falls into a boiling pot, and it ends when one of pigs says "soup's ready ". Yup, that was the first rendition of The Three Little Pigs that I was exposed to.
