No imperial age unit upgrades for siege whatsoever, no bombards or actually any gunpowder unit barring the Cannon Galleon (no elite upgrade), no Redemption, gimped defenses and weaker infantry line due to lacking the last armor upgrade. The lack of gunpowder hurts the most given that medieval Hungary had the largest ratio of firearms in the 15th century. AoE does not reflect historical accuracy of course but at least they should fix their late game and make them into less of a one trick pony. Also give them a team bonus which has better chemistry with the civ or those who complement them in team games.

the counter is to wall in your existing lumbercamps and put future wood choppers on straggler trees. Once the militia is far enough away, send the straggle choppers to another woodline and also wall them in. Then proceed as normal until you can deal with the drush. You will have to spend some time/res on repairing the lumbercamps/palisades, but considering how big of an investment the instant drush is, it's not a big deal.

Poor Tatars not getting any love :( Maybe you can perform a sheep heist with them and a Celt ally to convert enemy sheep, and mongols in a 3 vs 3 for scouting. I remember that sheep lasted so long you managed to FC without have to place farms, maybe you can use extra sheeps to invest the wood you normally place for farms for double stables, or readjust your eco so you are light on wood and heavy on stone after the first stable? Admittedly this is probably more trouble than it's worth, but I would still like to see how long 8+ sheep last for Tatars

This kind of thing is why I stopped playing multiplayer RTS back during the Starcraft days. RTS games that are decided in the first few minutes aren't fun. 95% of the unit roster might as well not exist when people just rush to put another mark on their scorecard ASAP.

To be fair, this kind of rush is always possible to counter in aoe - quick wall, loom and when it's out, fight the militia ; it slows you down, but you should be fine. The games are more interesting when things start in dark age, then when everybody is fast castling

Drush is just rushing during the dark age with militia. Booming is focusing on building as much economy as possible soon as possible and thus not building any kind of military early.

@@Redd_Nebula the lithuanian can do everything you list and still drush you... if he really needs loom super quick he can just get the 10 gold with 1 vil (he'll have full information of the coming push because of his forward). the game is balanced around just having enough food to poduce vils in the beginning. secret developed a strategy around drushing with persians because of their +50 food. now imagine what 150 does. really the only hassle is that he has to go to stragglers at the start.
