A brilliant quote: "Art belongs to a non socializable aspect of reality....applicable to all man but not collective." Really made me react - absolutely that's why art is so rarely discussed in public. You can only read about it or experience it alone. These two individuals are some of the brightest creators out there in the documentary world. And I love the comment about NFT's - they seek to divide us - yes, hell with NFTs and people buying digital art and owning it and showing off.

No matter how much I want to like these high quality videos, I keep getting a feeling when watching them that the script written is not meant to be narrated, something always feels off. Writing for the purposes of oral narration is of course a demanding form of art in itself. Moreover, this relentless almost hypnotic pace of the narration, does not help to distinguish between the nuanced variety of highly intellectual and demanding ideas expressed. I do appreciate what you are trying to do and only make the above remarks for the purpose of creating better content.
@magarnicle2 жыл бұрын
I love this channel, but I've thought exactly this for a while. These are college-level essays read out loud. That would be fine if the images illustrated the words more directly, but that isn't often the case. I find myself feeling like I'm missing something when looking at the images, trying to figure out how it is an example of the point being made, but often it isn't. And by the time I realise this I've lost the train of the narration. So maybe there should be more blank space to just listen to the words?
@beverlykandraceffinger37647 ай бұрын
I find myself in agreement with your comment, and also with the reply posted in response to your words. This is my first experience with what appears to be an ongoing project related to art, this channel. And I very much appreciate the bravery of image selection--the juxtaposition of more contemporary works with emotional works from the earlier traditions in painting-- used by the creators. But somehow the narration does not at all seem to fit with the unfolding images, both in the monotone with which it is delivered and its tangential relevance to what unfolds on screen. A brave effort, but the work would likely improve with a more professional, better articulated narrator and script.

They cut the painting into its different elements (foreground, characters, background, whatever elements they want to move independently) and then animate them each separately to give a sense of depth and movement.

Art in context of old waspy historian with intense anti-NFT sentiment. "The same approach can be carried to the careful consideration of almost any art form.."(9:30) Art is abig word. Are we talking paintings? Could we consider performance? What about conceptual works spanned across the 20th century? These are arguably aesthetic by nature, no? genuine questions yooooo
@sirron29292 жыл бұрын
Pretty much exactly what I was thinking... the anti-NFT sentiment for "commoditization" reasons feels especially shallow considering the channel is sponsored by a startup offering fractional art ownership.
