• The MetroMover in Miam...
Metromover is a free mass transit automated people mover train system operated by Miami-Dade Transit in Miami, Florida, United States. Metromover serves the Downtown Miami, Brickell, Park West and Arts & Entertainment District neighborhoods. Metromover connects directly with Metrorail at Government Center and Brickell stations. It also connects to Metrobus with dedicated bus loops at Government Center and Adrienne Arsht Center station. It originally began service to the Downtown/Inner Loop on April 17, 1986, and was later expanded with the Omni and Brickell Loop extensions on May 26, 1994.
The Metromover serves primarily as an alternative way to travel within the greater Downtown Miami neighborhoods. The system is composed of three loops and 21 stations. The stations are located approximately two blocks away from each other, and connect near all major buildings and places in the Downtown area. Together with Metrorail, the system has seen steady ridership growth per annum, with an average combined ridership of 105,500 weekday passengers in 2013.
Out of only three downtown people movers in the United States, the other two being the Jacksonville Skyway and the Detroit People Mover, the Metromover is by far the most successful in terms of ridership, the only completed system of the three, and considered to be a catalyst for downtown development. ~Wikipedia

Please comment if you have opinions or facts to share about the video or transit in general! Its a learning process for all of us and I enjoy being educated on what in the end we all love: transportation

For people asking about its usuage. It has decent usuage for a mass transit system in the southern US. It can get quite packed during rush hour, as people transfer from Metro-Rail to MetroMover, also during events such as new years or when there is a game or concert. The reson for the low usuage is that Downtown Miami is made up of mostly office workers, so now during the pandemic there are a lot less people. However, this is changing, lots more condos and people living in Downtown Miami.

The retro feeling of the video rendered nothing but 2021, more like American Funniest Video in 1984

Great video! I have to say I don't like the new vehicles. The older ones were much more attractive. The new ones are trying too hard with those ridiculous sloped fronts. The wrap ads don't help either. Public Transit should never be wrapped in ads.

There does seem to be a lot of infrastructure, but minimal usage, although that could be partly due to Covid 19, However I did see it in operation a few years ago and it was not very busy then, despite being free.

Interesting system, although it seems to be operating at low capacity.

Its meant to be a 1 car train for the outer loop and 2 car trains for the outer loop which you can see at 1:00 mark. It's a small system connected to the 2 main Metrorail stations. So it acts a downtown people mover to distribute passengers across the area.

See, Elon, THAT'S how the Loop in Las Vegas should work. Much cheaper, much faster, much greater capacity, much more reliable, doesn't require any kind of on-board batteries that are notoriously difficult to recycle.

Miami has the same station voices as Phoenix.

Yep, it’s that same horrible text-to-speech voice. I *really* hate it when transit systems use fake TTS voices instead of real human voices for their announcements. The TTS announcements are cold, unfriendly, and robotic, and they don’t really make for a pleasant passenger experience. I really appreciate it when a transit agency puts in the time and effort to record real human announcements, especially on systems like the NYC subway with hundreds of stations and thousands of different announcements. If NYC can do human announcements on the subway, Miami-Dade can surely do human announcements on the MetroMover, and so can Phoenix.
