We don’t like it either .. I could say many of MG’s customer always compare their car to European brands and insult Japanese brand. The main reason because the company use the word “brit dynamic” for advertising with english flag. This make MG’s customer believe that they are rocking on the EUROPEAN car which is not anymore !! MG doesn’t prove any reliable, example like many of them shutdown on the street. Some part of plastic break off. And yes it’s 20-30% cheaper than Japanese car and come with full-option but never stable lol

Maxus of cargo van fame is also now a Chinese owned ex-British brand. SAIC tried to revive Rover as well, but MG didn't own the brand, and Ford didn't want to sell it to SAIC.

Impossible to buy either you mentioned. Rover name owned by Land Rover, Saab name owned by the group that works with aircraft and military things (Saab's available auto assets are under Evergrande as NEVS after a long journey). Rover's assets were bought by SAIC and used for Roewe, MG by Nanjing which in turn was then taken over by SAIC.

MG has many complaints here in the Philippine market; some major issues at that. Some of their design is too copied with no consistent design language, but I do love the design of this one.

@@goodboysady Some builds other than TOYOTA are great. Even toyotas had their share of recalls. We bought a GEELY. A chinese brand as well but very reliable and amazing to drive. We have to test it for 10 yrs though to be sure.

This car was used by a dealership manager as a test drive vehicle/beater car, so no feelings were hurt by our pointing out its flaws. People lend us their cars with the understanding that we will be honest what we think about them, so if it has a poorly installed aftermarket spoiler, we will point that out. Otherwise, it will be pointed out ad nauseam by the comments section. The same goes for the dirt, we had to head off the inevitable “Why didn’t you clean it first you’re so lazy thumbs down” comments.

The MG brand today is a Chinese government owned brand so it is likely built as a low cost car the suspension system macpherson strut independent suspension up front with rear torsion beam rear suspension works OK if it is set up right such a suspension system has been around for over four decades used on many front wheel drive cars from Europe Japan and South Korea have a Volkswagen polo with such a suspension system and it drives nicely its best point so it ain't the suspension system that would be the problem.The MG is basically built cheap made to look good but it ain't a sporty car like the MGs of old the Chinese government obviously bought the rights to the MG badge it would be under the SAIC Chinese government owned group here in Australia they sell a cheap hatch the MG3 and a number of SUVs that use a 1.5 four cylinder engine it obviously the same engine.Sooner or later the Chinese brands will dominate because the other car brands are getting way too expensive.

MG6 is a real sporting car both inside and outside to MG5. I bought three MG cars and now I'm driving a MG6. I also have had a test driving of MG5. It's much different between the power/transmission/suspension system of the two cars. MG6 is better and more expensive than MG5. For MG6, it has a 1.5 turbo engine wiht 181HP and 285NM. For the 1.5 turbo engine on MG5, it is only 177HP and 250NM.
