I do honestly respect it. It seems like you are much more likely to hit on qb if they sit a while but takes great patience. And don't talk to me about Penix's age. I feel most qbs are in their primes well into their 30s so I don't care if he could be late 20s before he starts.

Come on now stop being extremely clueless. Everybody knows Penix Jr is not sitting for 4 years. Kirk Cousins contract is really a 2 year contract the last 2 years are considered dummy years and if Kirk is on the roster by year 3 that means the falcons couldn't find a replacement for Kirk. Y'all consistently stick to the extreme because if you don't y'all logics sound foolish. Terry Fontenot had to say 4 years because he can't just say we only want Kirk for 2 years. You can't say the obvious parts out loud in the NFL

Cousins costs them nothing after 2 years. He costs nothing against the cap after one year. Penix was rated higher by teams than by the scouts. There are many evaluations that had him as high as second or third among the QB class. This was a great class. With 9 wins projected using Cousins, there is no way for Atlanta to get a future QB next year or the year after.

Lets say they chose a Pass rusher instead. Lets say Kirk isnt the guy. People keep talking about this player X guy on defense. The Steelers have a player X guy how many playoff games has That player X won??? None The Cowboys have several Player X guys on Defense yet they got destroyed by the Packers and Jordan love 1st yr starter.....where was player X? No where to be found. Do the Packers have a player X on Defense nope. But they do have a player X on Offense and his name is Jordan Love and he plays QB...the ultimate Player X position. So we can sit here and talk about all these other positions all Day long. As long as you have a Dude at QB thats all that matters. Ask the 49ers. They had player x 's all up and down their defense but until they got Purdy it didn't matter.

The issue is that they’ll have no idea if they have a dude for at least two years, whereas we know Cousins is a top 12 QB at worst and putting pieces around him right now could get them a deep playoff run

@@Rekcha my guy the whole point of allowing Penix to sit a yr or two is to allow Penix to learn the Offense, how to read NFL coverages, set the protections, see what right looks like from Cousins. Get stronger and get adjusted to life in the NFL. It also give the Coaches time to work on Penix footwork, mechanics and actually build him up from the ground up inside their new scheme. What do you think happen to Brock Purdy . ..he was allowed to sit back, develop..learn the offense with no pressure at all. Saw Grappalo flame out, watch, Lance Flame out via injury and come in and Ball out. You do know Aaron Rodgers change his throwing motion. GB was able to fix his mechanics while he sat behind Farve. Farve sat on the Bench in Atl for a yr before being traded to GB where he sat before he got his self together also. You may not have known that.

@OhNoTwisted 9 күн бұрын
@@Rekcha Cousins doesn't win playoff games. There is no 'deep playoff run' with Cousins. At least not in 12 years for him. He fades in the playoffs. Hell, the ONE playoff win he has...was basically luck at the end of a game. He almost lost that one. Cousins is a top 10 QB in the regular season and a regular, habitual flameout in the playoffs. So even if the Falcons won the division in a weak division, they likely just get beat by whatever wildcard they play. Just like what happened to the Vikings when Cousins was their QB in 2022 season. 13-4 didn't matter, they just lost the wildcard game because Cousins fades in the playoffs. So no chance Cousins is 'the dude' hence the reason the Falcons drafted a QB.

So many of these top ranked DEs end up not moving the needle for teams. Look at Jadaveon Clowney and chase young. And they were so much more hyped than Dallas Turner or the DT from Texas. If Penix comes in in 1-2 years and lights it up, that will move the needle more than any defensive linemen. They have been in QB purgatory for the last several years and clearly recognize you’ve got no hope without a good QB.

Washington runs an air raid offense with a lot of RPO and shotgun formations. Penix needs time to learn how to play under center and to learn the west coast lingo. Why does everyone think he is ready just because he is older? Penix has crazy arm talent and knows how to throw with touch, and knows how to read pass concepts against college defensive schemes, but he has a lot to learn and he is in a good place to do it. Also he is not going to be that old for a QB when he starts playing. You would think PFF would get it if anyone would, given how much they have emphasized the importance of the passing game and QB play. I think people just get mad when their consensus informed beliefs are violated because they don't like being wrong. I heard penix was QB2 on the falcons board, and they have a lot of former QBs on their coaching staff.
@shankdiddy9045
@shankdiddy9045 12 күн бұрын
Nah, he is ready to play .... Scheme has never ever been WHY a QB doesn't play well in the NFL. It has always been about skill sets. His ability to project the passing game down the field and to be able to move and slide in the pocket with avoiding negative plays is translatable.
@jackscully4686
@jackscully4686 12 күн бұрын
@@shankdiddy9045 I agree those skills translate, but success still depends on knowledge at QB, and schematic familiarity gives you a head start. Defenses put so much work into tricking you as a QB, and in addition you have to learn new pass protection calls, a whole new playcalling system which is WAY harder to learn than air raid, and everything happens so much faster. It's a big adjustment even if you have translatable skills.

I honestly cannot believe how hard you guys are reaching to justify this. Not because you're glazing it up but because even your tepid acceptance of the pick is far too nice. Top 10 picks are supposed to be Day 1 starters, not Day 732 starters. Last year's top 10 had 3 pro-bowlers. And with that irreplaceably valuable pick they drafted a 24yo to sit on the bench behind a QB they TAMPERED for. It's maddening.
