That LITERALLY sounds like "A PLAN"? Which is precisely what China had (Has) On the other side you have Politicians who voted for a system where "THEY" would benefit from contributions to their "Campaign" (Yeah, right) and receive "Advantages" in return. WHO thought that was ever going to end well? "I'll give you $1m in "Campaign Funding" if you push for me to get the $50m contract!" No matter of the tech isn't as good, or as reliable...... . Cyrus will confirm the OFFICIAL Chinese policy of funding "Little Giants" in prioritised sectors with the aim of producing 10,000 such companies by 2025 (as of February 2024, they numbered 9,000) Add an attitude that A Large Corporation SHOULD have reached AND be able to remain at a level where they need no help.... if they're managed badly, or not developing the right products..... They can fail and make way for the next new thing. . The result? If for every 100 startups they get 20 "Reasonably good" companies, but 2 "Superstars" which provide the new technologies and grow accordingly, EVERYONE wins. That's how you get Huawei.... (etc) . USA? THE small car company which published a remarkably similar plan in 2006? THEY made it (You KNOW who) DESPITE a campaign to stop them (Deliberate use of the term "campaign").... while successive governments (Small"g") have poured money into the "Failing Giants" who couldn't adapt.

Yep! Get this: The US government gave the American tech companies hundreds of billions of dollars to make the best chips in the world so that they could take over the chip markets, but the problem is China is all of the US’s chip companies’ biggest chip market, accountinhg for as much as 60% of some of the American chip companies’ market! So how could the American chip companies take over the chip markets when China is their largest market in the world, but the US government won’t let them sell their chips to China? Duh!🙄🤦🏻♂️ It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out that such a stupid action won’t work for even a child could figure this out! If the US government won’t let the American chip companies sell their chips to China, what’s the point in making those chips in the first place since China represents 50% of the American chip companies’ business? There’s simply isn’t another country or countries that would buy chips from the US since none of those other countries have a need for advanced chips since none of them are as advanced as China to be needing advanced chips! Since China no longer able to buy chips from the American chip companies it simply makes its own chips! The US government underestimated China’s ability to make its own chips because it underestimated China’s technological capability, which is for the most part, actually more advanced and more capable than the US’s technological capability! Now that China could make its own chips China could sell its chips to other countries, maybe to the US as well, which would compete with the American chip companies for business! So within a few more years Chinese chip companies would put the American chip companies out of business because they could make better chips than the American chip companies and sell them for many times less than the American chip companies sell their chips for! Isn’t karma just a bitch? Now people understands why the American companies, in every industry, have failed to flourish despite receiving more subsidies from the US government than Chinese companies are receiving subsidies from the Chinese government! You could say the US government has an overcapacity in stupidity!

It seems our politicians know zero about China. Even the rudimentary facts point out to China's long term rise in technology as a total system to be supported and encouraged. From raw materials to finished product, China has groomed a cadre of tech smart workers to propel China into sectors of business that gives it more content and growth. China is following Singapore and the other Asian Tigers in the transition from agrarian to industrial strength, no big secret. The saying: If you can't fight em, join em' applies to the US. American arrogance that it owned technology and could deny tech to others has been shown to be false. Now the US faces a severe economic dilemma. Instead of helping American tech companies to grow and compete with China, the US finds it has caused severe damage to the future of American tech companies across a broad spectrum of sectors from autos to semiconductors. The poster child of this action is Gina Raimondo who like Peter Navarro failed in their belief that they could defeat China. Instead of collaborating for a win-win outcome, the US has chosen a winner take all approach and it appears China is the winner. China's depth in STEM graduates will outperform the US because the US doesn't have the manpower to stay the course against China's rise. The US invested over $50 billion to grow America's semiconductor sector and is finding out almost zero return. Both Intel and AMD loss of the China market and the competitive decline of Qualcomm and Nvidia are causes for concerns. Not only is China a tough competitor, but Raimondo tied one hand behind their back of US semiconductor companies and we are seeing the consequences of that effort. It remains to be seen whether the next administration will continue Biden's failed approach or a new reset will happen.

By trying to contain China from accessing advanced technology is by all means an inhibitor or unfair competition from the beginning. That’s why China is seeking self-sufficiency in all areas and actively to de-couple from America in all fields US technology still dominates today. Although I agree with a lot of what Cyrus says in this video, the part at the beginning about Intel and the government funding is truly misleading because it conflates a lot of disconnected aspects. I have been in the semiconductor industry for 26 years, so let me provide a more complete context for you. Semiconductors are manufactured in fabrication facilities nick named “fabs” that take years to plan and build and cost multiple billions of dollars each. They exist in multiple locations around the world, but currently, Taiwan happens to hold 80-90% of the newest ones, the ones with the leading edge processes. Yes, others exist here in the US and other parts of the world, but as a global capacity, a disproportional amount of the top ones are in Taiwan. China is threatening to take over Taiwan, so that is a geopolitical threat that would cause an economic shockwave to the global economy to get cut off from that. As an industry, the only way to change the balance is to build more fabs outside of that threat, so that means in the US and other parts of the world. The $50B+ package from the US government is geared toward getting fabs constructed in the US. Each of those fabs will employ many thousands of workers. Remember, it takes multiple years to plan and build these fabs. Many semiconductor companies received this money, not just Intel. Also, Intel’s business performance has been struggling off and on for about 10 years now. To conflate Intel’s recent losses and layoffs with the multi-year process of building fabs and hiring thousands of workers is misleading at best. To leave out the part about the location of so many key fabs in Taiwan and the goal of rebalancing the global distribution of these fabs is a disservice to the viewer. For the record, I do not work for Intel and never have. In the short term, Intel is overstaffed for the revenue they produce. And they need to right their ship, regardless of this government spending plan. Other semiconductor companies receiving this funding are in much better situations and are already building these fabs.

@@雪花冰玉-xuehuabingyu Nobody wins trade war. This is why Chinese does not do trade war. This is also why China does not go all out and retaliate, They could have restrict exporting silicon. But that will hurt themselves too.

@@davidwong5197 Exactly. China never does anything that hurts people while US does EVERYTHING that hurts to their opposition(s) without thinking anything. What they don't know is there's something called karma and karma makes a retribution on them. Just like a Chinese saying, 善有善报恶有恶报 It means good people will get good fortune and bad people will get what they deserve (which is bad things). So, US does bad things and they have to accept their misfortune too because they are the ones who did those bad things.

In the post-urban American landscape if you build any significant manufacturing place you have to draw in workers that mostly have to drive in from all directions of a fifty mile radius. Our other economic paradigm is to bid up the price of real estate in any significant area to beyond the affordability of most people who work there.

The cost to manufacture chips in the USA was so high, Taiwan was the only main place chip production could stay profitable. It was a no-brainer that increasing chip production in the USA would cause a supply glut. Unless they become government subsidized, chip companies are going to fail.

Gina Raimondo said it's ok to lose some businesses for the national security sake! So now they need to ask her again how much and for how long is "some"?
@rogerstarkey53903 ай бұрын
The question I would LOVE to ask her? "Gina... (Can I call you Gina?)... About "National Security".... You KNOW that each of the latest "Ford" (Found on Rocks Dead?🤪) class Aircraft carriers has in excess of 6,500 Chines Semiconductors embedded in their Electronic Systems?...... Do you ever wonder if a "Flash signal" from a Chinese satellite could POSSIBLY either "Fry" a portion of those, or initiate a random "embedded timer" (or similar) which turns the chip off for anything from 5 seconds to 20 minutes, then resumes operation?" I wonder what effect that might have on the moral of the crew when sailing towards an "Engineered conflict"? . Then we could expand that possibility to 40% of the US weapons inventory, from small to Nuclear Missiles, Aircraft, other naval vessels, Radar, Essentially, just a "HINT" that they MAY be able to do that would mean the US fleet couldn't risk conflict? ...... Just a thought.....
