These are some steps you can employ to reduce microplastic ingestion: * Drink distilled water whenever possible. You can buy water distillers that have a stainless steel body and condense the water into a glass carafe. Store water in glass or stainless steel vessels. * No Teflon or other non-stick coatings. Use cast iron or stainless steel pots and pans, and avoid plastic spatulas, cooking spoons etc. You can use metal, wooden, silicone or bamboo utensils instead. * No plastic plates and bowls. Instead, use plates and bowls made from other materials (lead and cadmium-free glass or ceramics, bamboo, stainless steel, etc.) * If you use drinking straws, you can buy stainless steel straws that won't leach plastics. * Don't microwave food in plastic storage containers. Transfer the food to a more suitable container before nuking your leftovers.

I doubt that lower levels of micro plastics are completely neutral to adults. They have to be causing something to go wrong, even if indirectly.

Agreed. And the frightening things is our exposure is rising, not only is plastic used FOR EVERYTHING, it is also a forever chemical.
