Mike the Machine! Learned so much framing knowledge just from this video! Love the renders too; can't wait to see more as this develops. If it were my garage I would have made the new garage-to-mudroom door line up with the existing door going into the house so it would be a straight-shot for moving bulky items in/out of the house and give a little extra room for working in front of those electrical panels. Then with that expanded width on the left side of the new door, mount a hide-a-hose OG vacuum and some Slatwall, maybe a vertical cabinet too. There'd be some loss of wall space for the long cabinet array, so pros and cons there. To each their own though, no judgement!

Cut the ceiling drywall so I can put the 2x4 double top plate to the joist and carry the load from the upper floor. U do t want to put the top plate u set dry wall I mean u can but a framer would never do that. Plus it makes it easier to screw it to the top plate and joist

It's kind of driving me nuts that the door to the house and the door from the mudroom to the garage aren't lined up. I get moving it to the left to increase the amount of cabinet space but....how many cabinets does one need? And you could move it to line up and put storage on the left. Just an observation from someone who has built a lot of houses. All designs have compromises; just have to choose the ones you want to live with.

Nice job of DIY wall, but OG might want to start to use metal framing 1.5MM=16GA, 2.0MM=14GA, 2.5MM=12GA and trusscore or similar product as a substitute for sheet rock for ultimate obsessed fire and chemical/water/solvent resistant straight and water proof walls. Walls using these spec materials are much stronger straighter and can be pressure washed at 5000PSI directly are easily cleaned if not painted and far more attractive if you like white and need no backing as1.5MM metal studs are far stronger than framing grade wood interior partitions. Can be located with a simple magnet and with the care you exercise in your installs will be true and flat enough to eliminate the need to ever shim a wall again to get cabinets to align or be level. These specs. for walls/partitions will be resistant and user friendly to most solvents and cleaners even small hammers will have difficulty causing surface damage. The 3-0 door you are planning to install will likely cause issues with electrical codes if door returns in front of any elictrical panel check local and NEC electrical fire/electric code before hanging that door. Wood is ideal for what we are doing.
@rs2024-s4u3 ай бұрын
@@MikeFigueira-OG I agree that wood will work fine and is easier and cheaper to use, however if goal is the best I suggest you begin to look at new mall exterior mansart changes and design renovations of mall stores, and restraurant renovations/builds and take note of how many times you see stick framing. These are users that are spending millions for high end finishes and durable lasting jobs that cost more per square foot than high end homes by a factor greater than three. I have been a developer owner of commercial space for more than five decades and if the heavier guage metal framing is used wood is a distant second for build quality and strength. Maybe this DIY test/inquiry I am suggesting you undertake will give you a different objective prospective/outlook. An OCD ardent fan of your companies mission statement. Ray
