What a good send off to a season. I want to hope for a second season but even if we don't get one, this had got to be one of the most eye opening works anyone made in a while. And we can't be mad about not getting more because it's still perfect as it is.

He is not dead. We know this because Death told him he would die on a rolling chair. We can also guess that he isn't dead because a lot of the characters on the bus didn't really die, like Bob and Jason, or like Trudy Goodman (we see her later in jail in an episode where Clancy interviewed Jason, so we know she didn't die). if there will be a second season, it's likely that he is still alive (and hopefully doing well)

if there is a second season I think it'd be nice if it was about someone else and their story, and this show became more like an anthology where it just has a different protagonist every season. I think there's a chance Clancy could be alive too like you said, but functionally I think his journey is over, and he should just get to chill now

The spoons on his feet seem the key to me. Those spoons are music, beauty found in a common item and he is wearing them. What does it matter if he is alive? The beauty of his work (being meta the whole show) has trascended the earth plain and has united it with the heavenly one. So he is neither alive or dead, or he never was and now forever will be

I watched this in 2021 when I was going through alot of tough and rough times, I lost friends due to suicide but this show helped me get through the heartbroken times.. made me realize that the sayings of "just be here now" is just a word to keep you moving and live in the current time set meaning present time,. I don't know I'm an overthinker who needs to stop saying things..

Watching this was like being given a big cool glass of pure water after wandering a parched desert, semi conscious from dehydration, It filled me up to the brim and when Clancy turns to the soul bird in ep 5 and whispers the truth .. “it’s hopeless”.I felt the tears well and for the first time in many years I cried like a baby. A happy cry. 🥺 We all choke on the truth, or the saying we all gag on true doctrine is a real thing. Midnight Gospel succeeds where most fail. As much as I would love a second season of this show I personally think the ending of season one is perfect Even if the show quietly got cancelled I’m fine with what we got not every cartoon needs to last long in order for it to work (I don’t mind long runners) sometimes one season is all you need (over the garden wall is another example of this)

0:34 pause here . After almost a year after I watched it for the first time, I finally saw the top half of the tree of life (also known as Metatron’s cube) . I think that’s a very big hint from the shows creators on what this ending is supposed to mean.

@@joshk.9158 basically the top 6-7 points (depending on what version you follow) of the Hebrew Tree of life represents the spiritual/higher forms of reality. In earlier episodes it was just the bottom and top parts , possibly symbolizing that Clancy had physical, mental, and emotional stuff to deal with before he could let go and move on like we see here. At least that’s my interpretation.

Honestly... this show changed a lot of my perspective. There's no true essence of me, my emotions are important, listen to your thoughts, give up to hope... many many stuff. Life itself doesn't have a true meaning... the only thing to do is to be present. ...yes. This show made me face myself, I opened my heart more, shared my opinions... I am not closed anymore. ive come full circle i watched clips of the show then watched it then forgot about the show, about year ago i starting doing mediation over the past few months ive become mindful in my everyday not all of the time but some if not most of the time past month or so ive been listening to stuff from Ram Dass and some other guru's and some times i hear that Just Be here now quote in the start of some of the videos n just watching this and then hearing that at the end just feels like ive come full circle but elevated myself since the 1st time.

I’m still salty that Netflix said they weren’t renewing this. It’s a good send off for the series but dammit I’m curious to see what would happen next for Clancy. Let’s hope that one day, someone else picks this up. Until then, I’ll be listening to the podcast.

i think Clancy is now apart of the simulation like the others hence why he isn't dead or alive because just like all the other character's he interviewed they all died but are still alive. Clancy whole body goes inside of the simulation and that never happened before so maybe doing that caused him to actually be apart of the simulation now? hopefully that makes sense.
