I was a seventeen year old kid who grew up in North Cambridge for three years i lived night and day in Harvard Sq. A guy i met from Harvard invited me to a dinner party. About twenty people. RamDass sitting at the head of a long dining room table. I was lost. I had zero idea what he was talking about the thing was - he was so nice they were all really nice. Years later i got invited to the Llama Foundation in Northern New Mexico where he partially wrote Be Here Now. I told them my Ram Dass story. It has since burned to the ground but i will never forget it. They gave me a Be Here Now prayer flag i treasured for years so fast forward to 2005 my dream of moving to New Mexico was realized it was great until my son i got clean for twenty one years prior comes out to New Mexico and picks up heroin and is dead in less than a month. two years later i was seriously planning on driving up to the mountain and check out permanently. i turned on the tv and there he was - Ram Dass - i can't even remember exactly what he said i was so fucking happy to see him - it saved my life in that moment. God bless him - right here right now

I recall reading Be Here Now back in '71/'72 and it led me eventually to discover all sorts of stuff: karma, yoga, meditation, contemplation, wisdom, self-discovery and eventually to discover Buddhism. I love Ram Dass, always have done, always will do . . . a blessed man . . .

Ram Dass was once upon a time an eminent Harvard scholar called Richard Alpert, Ph.D. and the first scholar to be dismissed from this bastion of 'learning', due to his experimental use of LSD with Timothy Leary; also dist. I am the same age as Ram Dass and have been following him in a sort of on and off way for most of my life and had the pleasure many years ago in Amsterdam of meeting him and asking questions about his prison reform philosophy; a prison can be a monastic experience. He introduced meditation to some prisons in Oregon, and of those who participated in his workshops the recidivist rate was drastically reduced. But what I like most about the people who have commented here is is that you are young, aware and working on your consciousness. Your transmission from 'this ' to 'that'. In 1971 Ram Dass published 'Remember, Be Here Now', which describes his transition from Richard Alpert to Babba Ram Dass. Your own transition from this to that: Richard Alpert to Ram Dass, might well be served by sourcing this classic explanation of the process of transformation, despite the difficulties that this might entail. Peace

+paul valentine For a man with so many acomplishments, he seems to haveordinary ego attachment. I'd have respected him more if he remained RichardAlpert with a changed mind. I think his political activism gives his Egoaway. He's a very smart man, who also is very 'taken' with himself.Was not familar with his prison work, seems kind of interesting & makestotal sense.

Ha Ha. There is no such a thing as a Ram Dass. You focus on what you call an ego but the ego does not exist. Only God exists. You are Him who sent you. I and the Father are one. No one is separate from God. Not even a sparrow falls but the father knows it. What you do to the least, you do to me. What do you think these things mean ? Only God exists. Nothing exists outside because there is NO outside.

Echos of 'A Course in Miracles' Steven? Of course there is only One, but the One has many names, including Ram Dass and Steven Austin, oh, and God too. If you are into the One then you accept the apparent divisions as simply illustrations of the universal, all encompassing aspects ot the One.

I’ve seen a lot of videos. This composition with Ram Dass speaking has to be up there as one of the greats. I was in tears most of the way through. Much needed. I have felt also death is the most important transition and if we live in ignorance and avoidance we are doing ourselves and others harm. It’s best to contemplate and talk about it. Not shut people down. Wouldn’t be lovely if people would spend time asking each other how they feel about death and just listening and being with each other. Most people live in the quiet isolation of denial of death. My mum did. And she was terrified. It needn’t be this way. Be open to conversations about death and dying. You don’t have to be an expert or have resolved feelings yourself about it. Just be honest and allow the other the space to be honest. This is the greatest service you can do anyone. ❤️

Sorry...i agree ..this is important ...to make things universal access enabled and disability enabled. You must write to the makers, i am sure they can send you an accessible version or upload another accessible version..or include universal embeded coding and reload this video... My best wishes to you and thankyou for bringing this up. I appreciate it.
@lynnehenry5 жыл бұрын
Maybe you could write in the moment, for your partner or share with her in sign language as the video plays if you are able to do that.. :) ...that may be a loving gesture...and an activity to do together for your partner, :) until a version is uploaded with subtitles or one that's universal access enabled. :)
@trishashanaghan69185 жыл бұрын
@@lynnehenry my entire life is spent interpreting in social situations, family situations, thank you for the thoughts anyway but my partner wouldn't put that burden on me to interpret every tv programme or you tube programme that is not subtitled additionally there are plenty of loving gestures that go back and forth between us but thanks anyway my comment really is to bring some awareness to the youtube space that when you make one have a thought for people with hearing loss that is all and think about subtitling. As Ram Dass would say 'we are all just walking each other home' RIP Ram

most of that was speculation; just a bunch of words that have no meaning. nice visuals tho. Thought's last escape plan from reality is an afterlife. Die to what thought has put together and divided ie the self , self image you have and last but not least die to thought. it represents the past. Reality is , thought dominates your life. Only thought breaks the silence and brings with it ''time''. by the clock. And thought is a control freak , it wants your attention and becomes a bully when ignored.
