im so glad you featured this mech it is fun to play i run an ac 10 3 srm2/artemis and 2 small pulse standard 345 endo and ferro with the cool down the missles and ac fire at almost the same time and i dare you to over heat it. unfortunately its a close range brawler, its not a very good build but its fun

Could you explain the Jihad thing? I'm not too familiar with that timeline since it's not featured in the previous games I've played.

@@BlackhawkSC The Word of Blake Jihad is, after dark age and republic of the sphere, the third worst written tripe to come out of the post FASA years of battletech, it features but is not limited to - Space Wizard AT&T Religious schism, Nuking the entire HPG network, Throwing the galaxy into an age of strife not seen since before the rise of the star league, dumb shit like Clan Jade Wolf, and of course, directly sets up Dark Age, which is lauded as the worst BTech era ever, and sews the seeds for the poorly concepted, badly implemented Republic of the Sphere era as well. basically Battletech as a setting ends at the end of the FedCom Civil War for any semblance of sticking to the established tropes and canon, and being a comprehensive internally consistent product.

Suspected that you'd forgoe missiles when I saw the 5S variant in the title)) Although frogot that the jam chance quirk was uac/5 specific. Such a shame, it would've been able to carry XL350 with 3xLL and a UAC/10...

Yeah it's one of the few mechs with a specific UAC type jam chance quirk. A relic of the past that PGI never looked back at probably. Other mechs already have a 30% jam chance quirk and can take UAC10s, so I don't know why the Zeus can't have it.

It should be there. It's called Dorsal Fins so if you look down alphabetically you'll see it.

I like the champion with the missile fist. I use 3 MRM 20s along with lasers and it works pretty well. I might even look for that bolt on.

I haven't played with the 6T(C) that much although I know it has an XL engine. You might want to at least change it to an LFE if you can since the Zeus STs are its biggest weakness.

@@BlackhawkSC oh yeah I changed the engine first thing. I remember when I was new and it was one of the trial mechs, I hated it. However I thought I could improve it so I got it as my reward for one of the events and then worked out the triple MRM 20 build I have on it now. I was hanging out with a friend of mine who said that the Zeus was a bad mech and then proceeded in taking out half the enemy team. :) I like the mech and it is a good one for more aggressive players.

@@darrenskjoelsvold I'm not sure if you were aware but most of the older Champion builds were submitted by users and then voted on by MWOMercs forum users. Naturally this can be abused. I discussed the 6T build with the player who submitted it, I told him it was bad for new players with the XL engine and big Zeus STs, but he had many players from his unit vote for his build anyway. Now we're stuck with this. mwomercs.com/forums/topic/232353-zeus-champion-build/ If you looked at the players who voted on my build submission, they were the among the best players in the game at the time, including the author of metamechs.com, GMan129. The people who voted for the 6T build were half his unit-mates :)

@@BlackhawkSC well you were right, the champion build they have is not good for new players. But once you have learned the game you can look past the bad builds and figure out how to make the mech shine. Too bad the build that did win won. I think many players are biased against the chassis just because of that trial mech.

Why are your 'Killing blow", "Component destroyed", etc in-game messages on the bottom left of the HUD? Mine show up at the bottom middle.

It's a game setting. I think the messages were originally on the left so when they moved them to the middle people wanted the option to move them back to the left.

ssh-dont tell. This particular variant has one of best structure quirks overall, outmatching most of the heavier chassis, with general 10 heat quirk its a pure knife fighter. So seeing it outfitted for mid range setup seems not playing to its strengths. I would suggest 3-ASRM, LBX10,3ML with 325light, build.. right arm weapons points are the best convergence ones, use it. Crits slots on left arm as well as only on weapon point puts a lot of restriction on usability. I haven drop with Charger/Hatamoto, but from older IS light assaults Zeuses are best ones.

I appreciate your opinion though I think the UAC build does play to its strengths. The Zeus can tank but when you get close up, the ability to spread damage without effort is reduced. Enemies can more easily focus your CT, and with that build you showed, it has no shield arm/side to absorb damage. That big missile arm is easy to destroy and with that gone, you're left with 3xML and LBX10. I've 1v1'd Zeuses in Solaris and when I see an MRM or SRM build I immediately go for that arm and take out most of its firepower. The range on the LL/UAC build also gives you more engagement opportunities, and the more that you can engage, the more room you give your team to move into a position where they can support you.

What's the point of spending a mountain of mc on something that just falls off when it gets shot :( Very enjoyable watch :) I myself am aiming for the 6T variant, triple SRM6A, triple ML and HPPC.

@@BlackhawkSC It would be nice if they lasted a bit longer though. Like say... having hitpoints but not having an actual hitbox that stops damage from going through. At least the boltons would stay longer. p.s. edited the op with a wee bit extra

I think the issue would be that it confuses players who think the fins take damage. For example if they shoot from the side, they'd miss your real hitboxes completely. Actually I've used this to my advantage before, like I've added a bolt-on to an empty arm to make it bigger. Even though it only lasts a single shot, a single missed shot is still better than nothing.

Love the Zeus's design but in MWO it's just a shit mech, the arm mounted weapons are just to wide and convergence is huge problem.
