He's very good at what he does.

When I first saw this version, I also thought that it was the worst adaptation of the Mikado ever done, but then I watched a few more videos of it, gave it a chance, and I realized that it's not bad, it's unique. It's done in a more whimsical manner and actually one of the funniest ones I've seen.

They'd have to dress in stupid outfits and sing corny songs for a living!

They didn't do it because they couldn't find someone. They did it to include the 3 women who perform as a trio.

Same here, and it's growing on me too. But I still think they've gone a bit overboard, seems like they like to insert a gag into any song/dialog/situation just for the sake of it. Just a bit of moderation would make it a excellent, if untraditional, adaptation. I could even forgive the absence of Pish-Tush if so.

what the hell?! It is pretty funny though

funny - but I hate the cut - there was no reason to add a trio women - find a good chorister and have him sing Pish-Tush. Interesting production and some very funny bits - but they play too fast and loose with Sullivan, not to mention Gilbert for my taste.

Meh... Jon English made a good Pirate King, but here he's not in his element. I always thought Pooh-Bah was a very pompous, snobbish and obsequious man. English does not fit the bill.
