@@darthplagueis13 usually they were used together (bow and crossbows i mean) just like how bows remained very relevant during the early gunpowder days. They had more range, were cheaper and could arch, which is very important.

iirc, the crazy thing about crossbow spam is how well it performs in both manual and auto resolve and for some reason the AI doesn't think it will so they are more eager to go on the offensive unfavorably against you more often.

Probably the easiest campaign ive played, you have crossbow militia and pike militia after like 2/4 turns and thats basically your whole army composition finished before turn 10 im sticking with this mod i use and most likely going to switch to other total wars along with other games, i want to eventually be able to just play what i want, hopefully

Milan is awesome - one of my fav to play. Think it is the only faction that very viably operates purely out of cities. Like there's genuinely zero anything I would want from a Castle that it has - with maybe the exception of getting swordsmen guild early by spamming swordsmen, then converting the castle to a city. And you get the best crossbow unit in the game as a militia, best early game spear militia, special cavalry units from the castles etc. etc. EDIT: Also holy crap how many trebuchet units do you run with? Or is that a mod to increase total unit capacity in an army? Same for placing stakes for genosee crossbowmen, is that a mod? I never seen any of Milan's units be able to do that, thought it was only for English Longbows
