What an awesome collection. Thanks for sharing and also the stories that go along with them. Touching remembrance of your mother. I tell my children you take nothing from this world other than your experiences and the memories of people you have shared them with. I miss my parents every single day.

Thanks- when I get really sad missing my mom, it helps me to remember that I am 'of' her, that part of her is in me. (and it is usually the smart ass part- and that makes me smile again :' )

@@militarycollectiblesshop My parents were very supportive about me collecting history too.. My mom would see my collection and see the nazi dishes and silverware and say are we going to have dinner with hitler and then laugh... But the memories are.unforgettable.

@@militarycollectiblesshop it all comes down to preference. Personally I like to see extended presentations about a collection. Isn't that why we collect after all? Because we take great interest in the items!

@@g-dlr Great! Thanks for the feedback! Part of our hope for this "series" is not only to highlight our own collections, but to show off some other collectors items and talk about the hobby-

I have my dad's WW2 dog tags, his rank patch Tech 3, and his unit patch Persian Gulf Command. I also have two tankards made from artillery shells and engraved with a detailed map of Iran, "Persian Gulf Command", and the design of its unit patch.

What a brilliant collection, would like, even a German helmet shell but here in UK they are priced out of the normal guys pocket, I would love to try and restore one as original as it started, I have 3 rivets to start with, but I think that'll be all I have haha, you have brilliant selection of helmets.
@militarycollectiblesshop
@militarycollectiblesshop 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you- just plan those rivets and they will grow into a helmet tree! We do have some "restorable" helmets too- that are a bit more affordable-

Awesome collection. My collection has been packed away for 20 years. Hope to unbox soon and rediscover what I have. Very touching moment when your memory of your mother was attached to the helmet. I miss my father as we always look for treasures together. Great videos.

Thank you- it is funny how an object can trigger a memory like that- but then again maybe that is one of th3 reasons we collect, to preserve not only the past memories of these guys, but also our own.

@@militarycollectiblesshop : No problem. You anglo- saxons and we germans speak languages with the same root, but after so many centuries a lot of sounds became different. There are still so many similarities ( Gold, Hand , Finger are the same words, beer / Bier or wine/Wein the same sound, also ox/ Ochs or. sow/ Sau) that it is not to difficult, to learn the ,brother language'. A number of years ago, i read about an artist of Alsace/ Elsass region. The man could speak fluently french and german ( Alsace was once part of HRE , but for centuries french territory), and when he moved to London in 1960s for artists inspiration, he leaarned english quick. Why? English is a mix of 1500 years old german and 1000 years old french.
