I use the bottom packout for all power tools and put the drill bits and spade bits in the tray provided, stops them rattling around too much. middle tray for random bits (saw, ear defenders, mask, wd40 etc., top tray for screwdriver pouches voltage tester and a few handy bits (wagos screws plugs and things like that) ive found that to be the best way for me

I replaced my Tstak with the Packout about 3 years ago, starting with the 3 tier pack like you but adding a couple of clear lid, full width storage boxes. One for my electrical bits such as clips, wagos, compression glands, quickwire etc and the other for screws and fixings. Like you I use the top box for my test gear and my KT66DL fits nicely with the compact KEWEVA, proving kit etc just like yourself. The second one however, I have moved the tray from the trolley making it double tray and use that box for small hand tools, drill bit and the like and my M12 Fuel drill and M12 inpact, laser, hammer etc. The trolley, dependant on the job, is mainly for the other power tools, which although originally Dewalt, have in a large part been replaced by Milwaukee, so bearing in mind you say you're hooked, be aware that your impending addiction might move to their powertools.😂 I love the compactness and lightness of the M12 kit, although I have kept the Dewalt SDS , the same model as yours, as it it just so good at what it does. I agree about the high handle resolving the issue I had on site with the Tstak of it continually catching my heels, falling out my hand and dropping to the floor which the Packout doesnt. The wheels are also more sturdy. I have had to make an effort to not look at catalogues, go to Milwaukee trade fair stalls etc as their stuff is so good it is just too easy to just go mad with the bank card. I have seen quite a few of those people at Elex over the years doing just that. For me, the bottom line is yes, they are not cheap, they are a larger footprint with less storage that Tstak but there is just something about the look, the build quality and the versatility of the modular accessories that just grabbed me. Those trade fairs and Elex shows will have me broke! That's why I stay away from the place! You're right though, the equipment is top quality and after only a couple of months I'm impressed so far. I've also noticed people who don't use Milwaukee Packout and never have, always roll their eyes when you turn up with the big rolling boxes to sort the electrics out! I went with the dolly, one two drawer, one three drawer and then a small toolbox with the work surface plate on top. Acts as a little work surface at just the right height for me. Everything is then cut into shadow foam, so I know where everything is, or if I happen to have something missing at the end of a job. I may go for TechStack though for my second setup, as it will be separate to the first and seems to suit my need better, if it ever comes to the UK.

I've been looking at shadow foam for power tools, but the trolly will continue to be constantly switched out for different jobs. I can drop some extra batteries in there if required and even a dustpan and brush for cleaning up...even though I'm an electrician 🤣

@@JBE That is the one downside to shadow foam, you can't really change loadout significantly without altering the foam. I do have a case where I made a couple of different trays of shadow foam up, but then you have to have somewhere to store them when not in use, and it would get fairly expensive to do a lot like that.

Thanks James hadn't thought of putting my label printer in one, going to need to get another one now 😁 I've been picking up a handful of the compact and slim compact boxes when I've seen them on offer. I have set up the slim ones for self-contained network, coax, electronic termination and my impact and bits live in a compact. The only criticism I have is the lid on them, you have to have a double size red insert in the middle and can't swap out two of the square ones from another case to have 6 compartments. Most of my small parts live in the collection of Fatmax organisers I've accumulated (the sealed polycarb lid ones), machine screws and crimps live in some 1x1 T-boxx's in the mancave. And if I'm ever near a lake I'll just through what I need in to my Nanuk roller 😁

I find the stuff far too big and bulky 😂 I’ve finally realised that getting older and my back getting worse it’s about breaking things down into even smaller boxes, so it’s easier moving them out of the van then clip things together on a dolly etc. I’ve gone with systainers and bonus they work with bott van racking 🙏

I suppose it comes down to what job you're doing and what gear you need on site? It's a bit much if you're just changing a socket like I was in the video, however when you're tasked to do more electrical upgrades around the house, it rolls in and out of everywhere while still sitting in one footprint. The only problem is stairs 🫤.

@@JBE that’s a fair point 👍. I generally use mine for shop fits or project work were your in one spot for a while. I like the systianers as they have a common form factor and they are all the same size apart from height, this allows me to bring them in and then create a stack that works best for the tasks, normally I’d have a 2x sortainers at the bottom which are the pull out draw types for parts etc then the units on top for lasers, drivers and SDS this then all sits on a sustainer dolly which can then be wheeled around or left in the middle of the job for all the apprentices to raid 🙄 the guys at work love Packout, I do like the robustness but I’ve been through using peli style cases and in the end couldn’t get on with all the different sized boxes 😂

Can't help but think the aluminium rods are potentially wasting space which could be used to store that little bit extra. (they could have reinforced the corners with stronger plastic)

In the UK we can only get the Black Milwaukee Packout boxes. We can't get the Red boxes! You could try ordering from a UK online shop and they might ship it to you?

@@JBE yeah, thanks I googled it right after I messaged in here lol. You guys are lucky and get the better one. I already have a red one but I'm tempted to fly up there and buy a black packout. Take the top 2 parts as carry on and bottom one check out baggage. I wish they made the Milwaukee 61 inch Work bench that was blacked out with red handles as well. This is where Husky beats them. They offer many different sizes and styles and colours.

The 3 piece set you got on the bench is crap. Not very useful on-site, to get things from the bottom box you need to remove all above. You are better off with the drawers and 4 wheeled dolley or the trolley. The small bit box fits in the front "pocket" in the packout crate

@JBE I work as an independent lift mechanic and mainly do modernization, partially renovating installations. Depending on the project, the jobs take from 1 week to over 9 months. The only thing I hate is when I need to get the tool into the machineroom, they are stuffed and way too heavy to carry up stairs or a ladder. I had to make some brackets in order to hoist them up to the lift machineroom. Even bought a simple electric hoist so I don't have to use a chain hoist... I started with the 3 piece packout set, but learned the hard way it wasn't practical for my line of work. Now I use them to store my hoisting equipment and tools I rarely use. Most storage systems are not really designed to travel by stairs even though they claim the carts can. If you have to climb stairs I would suggest using Systainers (Festool or Tanos). I started with them but the environment I work in is not suitable for the ridged plastic used in Systainers. They hook into each other with 2 "feet" at the back but those would frequently break making stacking them impossible

@203MPH One of the first jobs I had with this lot was working on the top floor of a block of flats. The joy on my face when I saw there was a brand new shiny lift, I just loaded up the Packout trolly and wheeled the lot to the top floor. I'm thinking of the 3 drawers set to add to my collection 🤔.
