I'm sure I've said this before but your historical context is always impressive. Another sweet one, thanks Sean.

I love these types of mind reading card effects. This is brilliant.

Great trick! A few notes: If you do it with a marked deck, it's even easier to know the top card, seemingly without looking at the cards at all. Also, they can shuffle BEFORE you write your prediction, by the end they won't remember that you wrote your prediction after they shuffled... Just before revealing the prediction, you can recap: I wrote the prediction before the trick even started, and you shuffled and re arrange the cards a few times. If my prediction was not part of your initial 10 cards, it's a miss already... Drum-roll... reveal the prediction!

Your channel is really something else. Many KZbin magicians out there just teaches sleights, or boring self-working/math tricks, and some just show random stuff irrelevant to magic. On the other hand, what you teach here are gems in old books with strong and advanced principles, yet not too difficult to do. I truly appreciate what you do on this channel.

Very nice! I do have a suggestion. Instead of burning the cards on top of your card face up on the table, then dealing the 10 cards in your hand to keep your card on top(a friend of mine questioned this right away), deal the 10 cards face down on the table like normal, then do the switcharoo to get your card back on top. Them have them put their number of cards on bottom, then hit em with the switch again.

Man just use a marked deck and let them shuffle for days. Brilliant trick Sean.

Absolutely you can! I almost taught it that way, but I feel like I’ve been doing too many marked deck videos lol. Thanks Brad!

I think doing with a regular deck is better so it can be down any time any deck, unless you always carry around a marked deck.

Nice revision of the original versions! One additional 'proof' of the swindle switch which can be employed if desired is to take a few cards from the balance of the deck and hold them face up as you say that you will give them the chance to deal or switch, then deal a card or two and when you switch... point out that it does change the order. Oddly enough the order is changed when you deal cards face up, but not when they are face down. 😀

Absolutely terrific construction and handling! Your magic is always so well thought out. One variation I'd try: Since, to me, "pulling out the jokers" comes across as a very handsy & overt way to glimpse a card i.e. "Here, let me look at and touch almost all the cards ... nothing fishy here." (I know, it's just "big action covers small action" but might create niggling suspicion.) Instead, maybe glimpse the bottom card then strip it 2nd from top in an overhand shuffle before handing to the spectator to riffle shuffle. Then, knowing it's 2nd from top, you'd track it and control it to the top after their riffle the same as your routine (only off by one).

Thanks Sean. To me as Finnish guy, it's important to use clear, not too fast English. Also if you make this 20 min long, it becomes boring. Your style shoots me and I have learned many your tricks, or your handling older tricks. Keep it coming. Mikael from Finland 🇫🇮

I think it's better if you do performance first and the explanation, otherway it gets confusing on where are you trying to go mixing the misdirection for the spectator during the explanation makes it harder to follow. PS: Towards the end you explained that reverse a bit better and made it more clear.

What if the spectator does an overhand shuffle? Would you perform a cull? Don’t get me wrong it’s a brilliant trick, it’s just some people don’t know how to riffle shuffle and would do an overhand shuffle instead
@SeanDevine2 ай бұрын
Great question! You could ask them before if they know how to riffle shuffle. If they don’t, just have them to the Rosetta shuffle. They cut half the deck to one side. Then you spin both packets around so they’re in a spiral condition. Then by demonstration, start to smoosh them together, making sure the top card ends up on top. Then have them push them in the rest of the way. Hope that makes sense!
@timwiegand56222 ай бұрын
@@SeanDevine Or just the magician shuffle. I think this is better anyway. They're watching you and see the shuffle and you can make sure the top card stays put.
