Hi Diane! Things that my children gave me over the years trip me up. I don't hold onto too many food containers because I don't use them and I know me, I will let them build up. However I keep one or two for when I send my son home with goodies, I use one of those so I never have too many under the cupboard. Thank you Diane! ❤

2 items that have tripped me up for a long time were 2 old kerosene heaters in my basement but last week I managed to find a metal recycling place that would take them. Then today I bought 2 kerosene fuel containers half full and 4 old paint cans to the hazardous waste day at our landfill area. Go me! Just needed to focus on these things instead of procrastinating forever! Rah rah.

Mugs. A go to gift for a teacher. But, as the recipient of more than I could count over 30 years, I learned to share the wealth early in my career. But, the handwritten, heartfelt notes from students and parents I still have and enjoy re-reading from time to time.❤

I am fortunate to live in a community with a charity that recycles fabric (sewing scraps, old clothes, etc.) and an animal shelter that happily accepts old sheets and towels (bedding for the animals, cleaning rags). Containers can be my nemesis but I have limited space so that keeps things reasonable. Most of the time!😂

Sarah, I know what you mean. My daughter has asked over the years for me to keep certain items for the grand kids. Then when they could use that item, she buys it brand new. So, this year I am packing things up and donating them. Any of the grand kids' stuff will be boxed up, labeled and ready for pick up from them.

For me its definitely glass jars...jam, spaghetti sauce, etc. We can't put them out for recycling here so I always hate to toss them. I do use some for freezing sauces, soups etc. in individual servings, but, you only need so many! I've definitely had the moments of "that's a great box" or "I could use that for..." but I've trained myself to let it go. Or give a time limit - if I find it a few weeks later unused, I let it go.

I've realised that I've doubled up on space being used, by buying specific containers. I live alone, why did I need a cereal or granola container when they can sit inside the cupboard in the box ?! I don't buy giant packets of anything and often the container doesn't hold as much as the packaging so I have to have both ! E.G.putting coffee into a fancy jar and still having half a jar in the cupboard taking up the space it took originally.! 😂😂😂

Kitchen utensils. I need to clear my drawer out. The hubs keeps asking exactly how many spoons, spatulas, tongs do we really need? Well, I use them all but need to ask could I reduce the number and only keep the favorites.
@stowie77334 сағат бұрын
I only have four drawers in my kitchen (ugh!). To help pare down my utensils, I put all of them in a box on top of my fridge. As I needed an item, I took it out. Upon washing said item, it would then go into the drawer or utensil holder. I ended up donating half of the box as I found I did not need all of them. It is along the same lines of turning your hangers around backwards…works like a charm!
