Anyone who dislikes this is simply broken ... The absolute ingenuity of what he did with this song is indescribable.

MP is, like everytime, fully in the flow. His moves are flowing, the music is flowing. Watching him means watching passion at work. The biggest mistake by the other DT-guys was to let him go. He is irreplaceable within DT. This guy is such a big part of the DT-DNA...

Its also because Manginis kit is set up like autism. Completely impractical. Portnoy IS practical. He can play any song 100 different ways and still sounds clean and tight, and free. Mangini spends more time looking for what hes gonna hit than he does just hitting it. Shows that despite all the technique, hes still inexperienced at being “the drummer”. Hes more into the show than the music. And it shows, I havent liked one song since the change up. The bands greed and lack of balls to tell the label “we’ll take a break” showed their lack of humbleness and it took Mike leaving for them to find it again.

When DT held auditions to choose the band's new drummer, I had a preference for Aquiles Priester. A great musician but who at that moment was not going through a good moment of health! And as Mangini was the first to introduce himself and having Steve Vai's curriculum, it was difficult for the other participants. I'm not saying that Mangini is a bad drummer. He's very good. In the last album of the band he showed this and seems to have finally found the balance!

@@FanaticDrummer what ?!?!?! the band was greedy during those times ??? they had all the momentum going for them and portnoy wanted a break. at that point portnoy was drained and was left out of ideas. if you're that a fanatic drummer then you should have heard that most of portnoy's drum fills sounded the same. well, he labeled it mike's bags of tricks, but he wasn't able to progress, no more new ideas from him. as for mangini's drumming since his arrival, there's always something new to look forward to. Lost Not Forgotten. The Enemy Inside. A Life Left Behind. Pale Blue Dot. The Alien. these are for me, the stand out drum contributions of Mangini for each album

@22192Shaggy It's not too hard of a drum part, for me at least... But, there wouldn't be enough pads to play it, you would have to construct an extremely large "Portnoy" set out of 3 or 4 other padded sets. xD
