I thought I was the only one who appreciated that line. Every other video is commanding you to "like, share, and subscribe." I don't like being told what to do. That is because I am a Taurus, and thus, somewhat of a bull myself. This video posits that if the commentator's content and style have been to your approval, and if you feel as a result that this channel is worth it, then please subscribe. It adds a quality of humility without being self-deprecating. It puts the option back into your hands where it belongs.

Regarding 1:12, Pasiphae copulated with the Cretan Bull in what is known in Latin as "coitus more ferarum". Pasiphaë was also the sister of Circe, the enchantress who beguiled Odysseus and turned his men into swine. Pasiphaë and Circe were also the aunts of Medea who eloped with Jason and escaped with the Argonauts after they absconded with the Golden Fleece from Medea's father Aeetes, the King of Colchis who was also the brother of Pasiphae and Circe.

It is true. When he left he sailed away with black sails and his father said if you defeat the beast and return change the sails to white so I know it is you returning. Thesus wanted to marry HER but had to leave because a god demanded it and his depression he forgot to rise the WHITE sail. His father, assuming Thesus was killed, comitted suicide and that's how he became king.

Great video on the Minotaur and King Minos! What about a video about the Chimera or the Sirens? The main reason why the Minotaur existed in THE FIRST PLACE was because King Minos disobeyed Poseidon in sacrificing an ordinary bull instead of the White Bull, which Minos wanted to keep himself. Poseidon cursed Pasiphae with an overpowering lust for the White Bull and mated with it, thus birthing it's terrible offspring, the Minotaur. Defying the Greek Gods can bring about horrific unforeseen consequences.

From my research the bull was put into the maze as a young calf and there it stayed without grass to feed on. Humans were put into the maze as punishment. A starving creature had nothing else to feed on. It adapted and fed on humans. It evolved by what it ate, hence the saying you are what you eat.

According to Plutarch this is all based on a real event. The labyrinth was actually a prison complex in Crete. The minotaur was actually a guardsman named Taurus. Minos often held games and pitted the prisoners against Taurus, who was a bad ass. Theseus was the one who finally killed him.

@ninjamice3464
@ninjamice3464 5 жыл бұрын
Just for the fun of it, I'll try and speculate. He probably gets his cravings of human flesh from his human side. Seeing as Humans are omnivires, but with most of them having a diet consisting mostly of meat. Especially in the ancient times. And meat protein is the primary source of protein the human body has adapted to. So seeing as he is mostly composed of a human anatomy, with the head of a bull and hoofed legs, he would adopt a meat diet to satisfy his ancestral anatomical needs, which forms about 75 of his being. He would still eat plants... But King Minos did not think of such a thing xD.

A research paper I wrote about the Iliad gave insight to some pretty interesting stuff. It was told from the perspective of only divine intervention on behalf of the events leading to the Trojan war. Most of my research came from the the meridian handbook of classical mythology my father had bought some years back. I was hoping you could do a video on that just to see if you come to the same conclusions I had made for fun. I started my research at the Apple and then started on solely looking at any intervention of the gods and their motivations for doing so looping in some of the other characters such as Achilles or Paris. It paints a compelling picture to the fact that the main characters of Greek stories are merely puppets subject to the whims of what each God epitomizes by their very nature. Feel free to message me back if your interested.

I learned about this Greek legend in high school when I was in Year 9 as well as the story of Athena and Arachne. As a believer in the supernatural, this story deeply fascinated me and I actually learned a lot of things in this video that I never heard during the class. I was only told at the beginning that the Minotaur was just a terrible monster that lived in a giant maze on a remote island who preyed on 14 children annually causing a lot of fear and that there was a brave prince, Theseus, who wanted the horror to end for which he was successful, but not the origin story of how the beast was born and that it was the result of a king committing treason against the gods which led to BESTIALITY! A truly fascinating legend indeed. I'm surprised this ancient horror story wasn't made into a historical epic movie like Troy, Gladiator or Pompeii! But from what I've heard, it's not the most terrifying Ancient Greek legend of them all!

These things are NOT a myth but at the same time i have no idea why it appeared to me. Labyrinth Miracle Musical See how I circle Imaginary mind Imaginary lines Let the maze of my design carry you on Just bumped my head and my face turns purple Running through hurdles, running in circles Trying to escape from this thing that I fear Everything seems clear like the end is near In the rear, I can see the beast getting close Surrounded by ghosts in a cloud of smoke The smoke reeks of failure, I don't want to fail But all the stairwells lead straight to hell So I'm jumping trap doors in the floor 'fore they floor me Focus on the love and the light right before me Walls keep spinning and my path keeps turning Patience thinning and my calves keep burning Hotter than a furnace, suddenly I'm learning Maybe I finally reached the point of no return and East is North and West is South I feel like I'ma never get out I'm trapped See how I circle Imaginary mind Imaginary lines Let the maze of my design carry you on See how I fly away Behind me my ex-girl's chasing me In front of me my next girl's facing me Awaiting me, the light's in my sight But I can't cross these enemy lines I'm behind I can feel the fatigue but I'm dying to shine But the road winds, I rewind, I rewind Got to find a new place to hide for the night Will I ever escape? Boy, I try and I try Everybody's watching me, I'm dying to get out In the glass labyrinth I am the mouse See how I fly away It's just a game you Play here in this labyrinth maze

The hollow cow looks like the Brazen Bull - an Ancient Greek torture device made of metal. A person would be shoved inside, locked in, and burnt to death. Their screams would sound like those of a bull. The King, at the time, liked the concept so much, that he shoved the inventor of the Brazen Bull inside. He died of his injuries after being let out.

@@fautismus5993 he ditched ariadne who was basically responsible for his victory, he could have at least chosen to marry her, but in some interpretations, it was because she was noticed by Dionysus that Theseus could not marry her. We shouldn't be praising him for being traitorous and abandoning Ariadne like that. And he's not even a player because he only managed to get one of them. Regardless, what he did was wrong and his punishment for being too swept up in his victory was the death of his father. Karma catches up to everyone. Don't be hypocritical.

I always admired the strength of the Minotaur. It's power, it's skill with a weapon, but this is different. Good lesson though about how the Minotaur was set to be the most powerful beast, but I just don't think that the wife of king minus was wise to mate with the bull. A Mistake on her part if you ask me.

@MythologyFictionExplained 6 жыл бұрын
Well it depends where you're from, pronouncing it My-no-tor is very common if you're British and others pronounce it Mino-tor but Min-no-tar seems pretty wrong, Tor coming from the greek word for bull only makes sense that's how you pronounce it. You don't pronounce Centaur Cen-tar so why would it be the case for Minotaur. Ultimately it's a pointless discussion different regions pronounce it differently.
