Hades Is by far the kindest of his brothers. Hades is loyal, and provides shelter in Elysium to those who did good in life, and punished the evil souls with damnation in Tartarus. He provided wealth and second chances, and when respected would be reasonable. Hades is the only one of his brothers willing to take the short end of the stick, both literally and metaphorically.

Hades shows a much better moral compass than Zeus. He loves and honours his wife, is fair to his subjects, and doesn't create drama. I have to say, I don't like many portrayals of him in film because they treat him unfairly.

I also read somewhere that when the three brother gods Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades divided up the world that they drew lots to get the different parts of earth. They say that none of the three wanted the Underworld as their domain so Zeus and Poseidon tricked Hades into drawing the short lot so that he would be stuck ruling the Underworld. And that was a part of the reason why he was so sad and morbid all the time and why he never goes to Mount Olympus because of the grudge he holds against his brothers for basically betraying him in such an unfair act. .... Great vid btw really like your channel!

Zeus is My King Zeus may be the king of the gods, and the king of Olympus, but you have to admit that for all his grandeur and power he isn’t really the best at controlling his temper, and his other brother Poseidon seems to have much the same issue though to a lesser extent. Hades is by far the best of all three and also the most level headed. He has the power to unleash an army of literally everyone who has ever died in the history of the world, stop people from dying, and drag literally everything made of anything found under the earth’s surface directly to him. With all of that, I think Hades can do far more damage to the world than either of his two brothers and that it is a damn good thing he keeps a lid on his temper

Axel Lopez Garcia false! He never touched Hestia, who is an eternal virgin, and he never raped Hera, he married her and made her his wife. Hades is the true worthy king of Olympus. If he were to ever rise up against the tyranny of Zeus, I would support him fully. The kidnapping of Persephone was his worst and only true crime, and that was on advice of his youngest (or, going by second birth out of Kronos, oldest) brother - and after the fact he has been nothing if not faithful to his wife, even granting co-rulership, something that Zeus wouldn't even dream of giving to Hera. On top, by birth, Hades is the firstborn. He is worthy of the title and would make a just and fair monarch; he is less stricken by pride and arrogance and selfish greed than Zeus is, I would argue, and is altogether a superior deity.

Hades is also my favorite male god out of all of them. I agree that he is most misunderstood because of his position. However, in a game that I play called Goddess primal chaos, Hades is a companion (if so choose) to fight along side you as a Hero. So it proves that Hades has the view as a helper or (as you said in the video) a peron who can give others a chance to get what they want. I hope Hades gets a lighter view as a person in the future...

Oldest and wisest brother of three. He was wise ruler, fair and just of his kingdom. Good magistrate of his realm. Sadly his kingdom was not most appealing to ladys, so he used his tricks to get married ... mothers didn't liked him as Persephone mother was not happy with him, but he was good husband, loyal and respectful to his wife. He is lesson of how what we fear the most is what we don't know and dont want to know, death itself and attempting deautise during our life, but our fears are unjust because death will treat us how we treat others while we were alive.

If you’re interested in other non-evil portrayals of Hades, here are a few more that I know of off the top of my head: *LORE OLYMPUS ::* This comic on WEBTOONS centers primarily around the budding romance of Hades and Persephone in a modern-ish setting, with the mortal realm set in Ancient Greece while Olympus and the Underworld are portrayed as relatively modern (with Hades as the king/CEO of the latter). Hades is portrayed as having a lot of emotional baggage, including trauma from his ordeal with Kronos, but all in all he’s portrayed reasonably well given the setting. *MYTHIC WARRIORS: GUARDIANS OF THE LEGEND ::* Hades doesn’t get all that much screen time in this show aside from the Hades/Persephone episode, but by all accounts he’s generally portrayed as an okay guy and somewhat socially awkward before and during his interactions with Persephone. In fact, he gets extra brownie points here for explicitly NOT wanting to keep Persephone in the underworld against her will (though he does make every possible effort to persuade her to stay) and is super-pissed at the villain of that episode (a lizard-guy who wanted to get back at Demeter for something she did in the past) for tricking Persephone into eating the seeds, for which he promptly punishes said villain. *CLASS OF THE TITANS ::* TBH I haven’t seen much of this series, but by all accounts Hades is clearly not in a villainous role (the main villain being Kronos) and is overall portrayed as a pretty chill guy. My only real complaint about his portrayal here would probably be his voice (he’s portrayed as having a very high-pitched voice with a semi-British accent), but even then I can more or less let it slide, mainly because it adds to the cuteness factor of all his lovey-dovey moments with Persephone whenever they’re onscreen together.

I remember hearing a bit more detail of the story of Orpheus. Orpheus had played so beautifully, that an iron tear fell down Hades' cheek. When he left with his wife, Eurydice, he did as he was told. He did not look back throughout his entire trip out of the underworld. Once he was outside, he turned around to see his wife. Unbeknownst to him, she was still a step too far behind. She was still in the underworld. Hades' condition was that both Orpheus and his wife were to be out of the underworld before he could look. So his moment of joy was cut short, as she was dragged back down to Hades. Gotta love the old Greek stories lol

I think the game Hades does a really good job depicting the real personality of Hades: stern, fair, and deep down emotionally receptive to others. As one who deals with death, he understands the value of life to mortals. The gods of Olympus are too busy living their own lives to care for the lives of their followers. Not as often as they should, anyhow. Unless they are someone the gods like, love, or want to bed.

honestly... I think Hades would have made a better king to rule the gods then Zeus. Zeus is a selfish jerk who only thinks with his dick, He gives people really bad advice and he spends more time cheating turning into animals and cheating on his wife, then actually being somewhat productive. Hades, on the other hand, is fair and just and will gladly help others if they can earn it, and even when Zeus told him to kidnap Persephone and force her to marry him, she gave her space and never raped her unlike what her father/ his brother would do. “Life is what gives death meaning, as Death is what gives life meaning”. Hades is needed to keep the balance. Though ever so moving & is never stagnate for doing so would destroy the entire cosmos. This is why, as with all the Gods/Goddesses of the world, a duality lies within them. Purity at its most rawest form is rare and that is one of many things Hades fancies. You can see this by look at his wife, Persephone. M He reminds me of Loki, misunderstood.

Why do people in modern social media try and portray Hades as someone evil? He’s not exactly evil or “the devil” he just collects souls and guides those to their next place. Either in Elysium (which is like Heaven) and the Tartarus (like Hell) He is a misunderstood figure. He embraces the good in those and values life. Why do you think he is the god of the underworld and souls? Yes he may have kidnapped Persephone..but he showed his true actions and emotions later on. She was never tricked and saw his real true self. He even has a better relationship with Persephone than Zeus has with Hera.

more than fair and just, in many ways honorable. The hermit king of sorts. at least in what little ive read. though the last regurgitated, he was the first born. And by most patriarchal laws at the time as the eldest son of cronos, should have inherited Olympus, and could have contested the drawing of lots. But being far more fair than most the other gods, accepted his lot as the god of the underworld, preferring the isolation of his own domain. Atleast from what little ive read. Out of most of the Greek gods Hades is one of my faverate. Despite having a bad rap, even in ancient times, he seems by far the most honest. Even being faithful to Persephone(atleast as far as ive read) unlike zeus and Poseidon who both raped woman in many stories and had affairs. He is as honest as he is clever, and a loner. As a hermit myself, hades has always resonated with me.

In Older Greece Poseidon was the King of the Gods, Not Zeus. Remember that Ancient Greece isn't a Homogeneous Static unchanging Culture, Symbolism and Importance of Certain themes Changed with time... I Mean Once upon a Time Dionysus was a God of Madness and Mystery, not Just Booze Fueled Frat Parties... I'd also Argue that Hades is the Member of the "Big 3" who APPEARS to be the Weakest, But really, Isn't. Where Zeus's Iconic Relic is the Thunderbolt, which is Essentially the "Ultimate Single target DPS Weapon". Poseidon's is his Trident, which can more or Less be Described as the "Ultimate Tool for Crowd Control/AoE DPS on a Mass Scale", Since it Create Earthquakes, and Controls the Waters of the Sea and the Weather... Hades's Special "Weapon" Though is a HELMET, which Makes him Invisible, his Iconic power is Literally to Go unnoticed Even by the most Perceptive of Gods and Titans... As Far as we know, he is the only Entity on the whole of Mythology who is Invisible to the Eyes of Fate itself(Despite the Plot of the Disney Version). Now Tell me, does that Seem "Weak" to you? Also, Remember that all 3 of the Brothers were Needed to Defeat Chronos and they Split the World in 3 Among themselves, but did not Feel the Need to give anything to the Other Gods and Titans that Helped them win the War with the Titans... Now why Would Poseidon and Zeus Give Hades Anything at all if he was in Deed Weaker than them? Why not Stiff him like they did all their other allies? Was it Perhaps because they Knew that if their Honorable Big Brother Ever Felt He'd Been Disrespected that there was nothing Either one of them could do to Stop him from enacting Invisible Justice Upon them?

I had prayed wondering about Hades specifically. Going through some different idea processes. Why was he god of the underworld? Did he choose it or was he punished? Who was he really! This came to me and answered some of those questions. Hercules came to me last May in 2019 and it makes me happy in my heart to know that he asked for Hades permission and also returned Cerberus first upon taking him. I’m not familiar with Greek Mythology but it has subtly followed me around. Also, I have much love for the gods, but I’m realizing that they are just oversized humans who act even more volatile and vain than a human. That does not settle with me very well. I do take into consideration what must be done was done for the evolution of events to play out? Why was it so necessary and what if events were different? How would that impact out consciousness we know today?

Zeus chose his domain first, and Hades was left with the Underworld despite being the oldest. I think part of why Erebus didn't argue about this, even though he could have made a strong case and even had a chance in a fight over it, is because of what came with the different domains. Had he taken Zeus' place he would have had Zeus' responsibilities, whether or not Zeus was good with those responsibilities is another matter. But Hades wasn't interested in that. There was power there, sure, but there was also power in the Underworld and far more wealth. There was potential for growth which Olympus lacked. Hades is far more patient, more level-headed, and probably realized that Zeus' greed and ambition worked to Hades' own advantage. Hades has a palace and a constantly growing population as it is his world which the dead go to. Zeus has a bunch of gods that may or may not want him dead and a large population of demigods with daddy issues.

I think it's a really interesting part of his character, if you'd like to call it that, that he gives people the chance to earn what they want, since hades was given his position by a game of chance and drawing the short straw. I don't think it was ever explicitly stated but it always seemed hades resented Zeus and Poseidon for this. So it's kinda nice to see that he gives others a chance to prove themselves when he didn't get one himself

Hades is the most honest of the gods because he's upfront with you about his vile and deceitfulness whilst the other gods are more underhanded and conniving.

Hades is always misunderstood and I really felt that he deserved a lot more respect because people thought that just because he is the lord of the underworld he was evil and he wasn’t in Roman mythology he was respected and I think that more people should also respect him btw like or dislike if hades is your is your favorite Greek God

In the end all are equal in the eyes of death...thats why Hades comes off as a good judge of character. Someone who understands the misery and melancholy of death and tries to be kind to his subjects and those who come to him for aid. But he also has to be fair and doesnt let anyone have anything without proving themselves worthy of it nor does he let anyone off the hook when they commit major shenanigans. So if i had to give a short summary of his personality id say... just, strict, charitable, pitying and melancholic.

For me, it was Age of Mythology. Which is strange, considering he's the one patron god that isn't really involved, but I found him interesting. Nowadays I adore him like Seto Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh), Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z), or Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender), who are all second-fiddle badasses that would lay the protagonists on the ground if they didn't have plot armor. Like how Hades could wreak his brothers' shit if he didn't want to demolish the planet in the process.

When I was in university my Professor in Ancient Mythology and Culture told me the following of Hades: Of the three brother gods, Hades was the slowest to anger and deepest in his compassion. He was just, and honourable, and (majority of the time) honest. If he roams the realms of Hades, he would mingle with the happy souls in Elysium and would ask the souls in Tartarus why they did what they did. He worshipped Persephone as the queen she was meant to be. He kept himself out of the septic politics and feuds of the "utopic" Olympus, only going there when it is absolutely necessary. So, yes, I like Hades. He sounds like a guy who would be nice to have a drink with.
