@@wettham_5188 I know this is months old but, use the harpoons. It's what I do. They don't tend to bust holes in the ship if you reel into the docks easy-like instead of just crashing into them. You can easily reel the ship closer until the tip is over the docks, then just walk on. Makes delivering silks easy since you don't have to risk missing the docks/ladder and end up falling and getting them soaked. And if you park in a way that makes sailing out a no go, then use the harpoons to back up.

Regardless of planks, I still think there should be a way for a stray pirate to join another crew mid session. One time me and this pirate who was not apart of my crew formed an alliance but because we couldn't actually join each other's crews when the time came to sell our loot we couldn't both get rewards fr treasure we both worked to get.

THISSS THISS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. Although I think the whole idea of more than intended ship crews should be more loosygoosy. Let friends of a crew join AS a stranded pirate, getting marooned on an island awaiting pick up. This would be such an organic way to add extra peeps into a crew (got 5 friends?). Another thing that could happen is the ability to break out people in the brig. If you board a ship, and there's someone in the brig. You could break them out, and take down they're old crew together. All of this, the walking the plank (or just a kick from crew vote since not every ship has a plank), the joining other crews, allowing friends to join as a marooned sailor, could allow you to matchmake as a marooned sailor (always spawn you on outpost), breaking people out of the brigs of ships, allowing players to leave a crew while staying in the world (have it maroon them same as friend who joined), big money sink to buy a new ship at the outposts (or to have your captained vessel delivered) etc etc etc. It would get people interacting in way more ways than just see pirate kill, or see pirate not kill. More comradery among randoms, more treachery among friends, more talking between people on the seas, and more random and interesting situations and encounters among pirates. AND it would go hand in hand with a guild system. More netrual interactions with pirates (even just seeing a marooned sailor at an outpost as you arrive to stock up). If they're ina guild you like/dislike, you could do actions accordingly. I could see guilds having their own "pirate code" or just things or ideals to follow just to add abit more to the rp stuff. Custom tattoos that show what guild you are, certain clothing that has the guild's symbol on it. Titles related to guild rank. guild only quests, elected or non elected leaders. It could be a whole thing. And with people being able to join as marooned sailors, you could see guild meets and battles.

Sounds nice, doesn't work in an online game. People would use that for all kind of abuse. Kick people before selling loot. Start Galleon with 3 friends. Kick all 3 of the ship, they stay on server. They "get" their own ships. Easy full alli server.

i actually tried to do what you talked about stand on a remote island and wait for somebody and i got picked up! and i would also love for breaking someone out and then winning over the ship and what would be cool if you could take over there ship and it would be your ship from now on and i would love to have bigger crews rather than a limit because ive had a random in my ship so when he died we always had to go pick him back up OR just have like a 8 person crew because lets face it in real life you would not be manning a galleon with 4 people

I think the reason you can't just kick someone from your crew is so that a group of people don't kick someone so their friend can join and take their share of the loot. In the brig at least they can just wait until the loot gets sold and they don't have to deal with a kicking mechanic that they can't do anything about.

Only rule I’d put in place is that unless the player leaves the session the kicked crew mate still gets the money/rep/allegiance and the original crew can’t have another player join there crew until the original one leaves.

Finish a few voyages, looking forward to turning in. You get to the outpost and you're voted to walk the plank, for no reason other than to keep you from getting paid. That's griefing.

Idea is good, but like the only case scenario I can see it being used it is on open crews, and then the issue comes out that people could troll each other and for example after stacking tons of loot they would kick one of the players out of thier crew so they wont get any gold. There is actually no "kick" button in the game for a reason, and Rare for sure thought this through. If they could somehow solve this issue then it would be a cool adition to the game, still being very niche though, since most of the player base play in private crews not open ones. Also it would add a lot of issues like: 1. What happen to the crewless pirate after he dies? 2. Can crew invite new player to thier session to join the crew or can they only add other crewless pirate to join the crew? Cuz they shouldn't be able to add another person outside the current session because of player limitations in one server. 3. The ships are specially designed for set amount of pirates in a crew, it would be unhealthy for the game if there could be 3 person crew on a sloop, because it's much stronger ship statisticly than the Brig to balance this handicap of one less player. 4. Would crewless pirate joining someone's crew get the same amount of gold as them? If yes then alliance servers and alliances in general would be even more OP than they are now, because after you stack your loot capitan would be able to kick his entire crew so they can join ship of your alliance and then they would sell everything getting 100% gold instead of just the half, and then the other crew would do the same and join yours to get more gold. 5. If no, then why would anyone play with another crew then they get less gold, when they could just swap the server and look for a new crew. The idea is interesting but it's flawed in many ways unfortunatly. Also could be very very niche and don't found much use, and implementing it looks like hell of work.

The easiest implementation for a walk the plank option is the much needed kick from crew option. Like as soon as they walk the plank they are just out of the crew and a mermaid will spawn to spawn them back on there own boat

I like the cleverness here, well thought out. But I cant support the idea for one reason. As the code says, the crew bond is sacred. That's not just an admonishment to play nice. It's a design philosophy to make the game work. The people on your crew need to be people you can trust for the intended gameplay flow to function. The ability to kick someone from the crew would make it possible to hijack ships not through swordplay and canon fire but through guile and politicking. You'd be right to say that's true to pirates, but it would make for a pretty bad game experience for someone who suddenly found themselves voted out of their own ship. I admire the creativity, but you've got to keep in mind the core gameplay loop. This idea would just be too disruptive to it.

Mermaid would have to be disabled after being booted, obviously, but I think the brigantine would be the best for picking up stray pirates, as long as it would be ever so slightly easier to 2 man, that way the third is more rewarding. With galleons, you almost always have a 4 man crew on those to begin with.

this is a good idea and will deal with problem players a lot better than the brig. also sorry in advanced for the keyboard splat soon to follow but I gots a lot to say on dis subject in your favour. Been on a few open crews where we have that 1 terrible little gremlin that mic spams / screams, chat spams, and in general makes a almighty nascence of themselves and even locking them in the brig does nothing as they just sit there carrying on and getting any gold u collect, so to get rid of them u need to bring ur adventure to a screeching halt one way or another and hope they get bored and leave or basically carry on with ur mission 1 crew member down and feeding a troll free gold for being a little runt. if it where a real pirate ship ya would have left them as fish food long ago for that kind of behaviour, also it requires that you and your crew vote to put them in the brig, had way too many crew that didn't know how to do it or would not. Not to mention some crew mates just cannot leave it alone, had a crew with one of these gremlins in the brig and I tells the whole crew, mute their text and mic and let them sit there and rot, but for reasons unknown to pirate kind this one kept trying to talk to them and try to trump them in a verbal sparing, but here is the thing, they are never gonna win, the little gremlin is not operating in an area where it can lose cuz ur trying to use logic and reason to a crotch goblin with neither. long and short even if u lock the scuttle scum away ur crew can still be annoying by feeding the troll, booting them it is over. some may say that this invites the opportunity to basically do all of the work and then kick members of the crew out so they get nothing, but that is kinda the risk with an open crew you don't know, is authentic Pirate that u could do everything ur captain tells you and when its time to divvy the loot they shoot u point blank as to not share with you and get more to themselves besides it would have to be a unanimous vote like with the brig meaning everyone had to say do it so is not just the Captain throwing a Tantrum and booting you, the whole crew needs 2 as well. at the very least it could be a Captained vessel perk to be able to punt particularly Pesky Pirates Permanently.

As we know only a certain amount of players & ships can be in a lobby at 1 time right. The thing is what if someone or even 2-3 people have been removed or kicked out their crews, they still take up spots in the server. Mathmatically it wouldnt work, lets say theres a brig & they boot a guy. He then walks plank & of he goes on a rowboat, however if the brig inv someone else & another ship tries to join server they cant. Even though there is space for their ship theres not enough space for the whole crew because the guy kicked out his crew is still on server as a solo with no ship. Mathmatically it wouldnt work & technically it wouldnt work unfortunately.......but i still think its a cool idea.👍

It's a good idea, but I just don't see it being used enough to justify it. the majority of players are on closed crews, so the usefulness of the plank to them would be insignificant. And if you gave an open crew the option to vote a trolly annoying player into the brig,, where they couldnt do anything and be forced to leave, or to vote a player off the ship to potentially come back to harass them. Well they're just gonna pick the former. Wouldn't get enough use to justify the extensive development time this would need. Cool idea but like the player treasure maps,, it'll just get forgotten.

Basically there's already to do in the world of sea of thieves but it would require a lot more man power and work to build up server capable of handling 20 ships At a time. But the mapnjsnr designed for that either. It's designed for pve and pvp. The ability to run away is really the only fall safe method you got out there.
