Thank you! I’m sorry if you didn’t have great video quality, normally my videos are uploaded days or hours before which allows HD to load but due to a technical issue I’ve had to reload it so it takes a few hours for the HD to catch up.

A nice and informative video thanks for sharing ,I wonder if they will keep the trees that are in the way of the canal or move them,shame the old Bristol bridge had been long gone .
@CourtAboveTheCut Жыл бұрын
Canal restoration involves a certain amount of removal of habitat before it’s finished which produces far more than is removed. I’ve no idea on the trees in question but usually they are replaced with far more trees than were removed.

Would be great to see some more drone footage between the oil pipeline and the Ocean new bridge! Nice work on the 360 camera too!

I was Impressed how quickly they constructed it. The rest seems to have stalled.

I’m not 100% what’s happening there, a lady from the trust shop told me the current dogs were archeological but others within have told me it’s being dug now. These things all depend on funding and obviously there were other big projects like ocean bridge that had to be dealt with
@stuartsteel12 жыл бұрын
@@CourtAboveTheCut I remember when I was a child about 1985. They dredged the length from the Frome up past the old arch bridge. Back then they dumped the silt on the sides. They also dredged the section near the Frome again about 20 years ago. Tuffley angling club used to look after it.

@@stuartsteel1 hopefully boats will be ok it within a couple of years. Once that happens then it turns to the east end on the Thames. With boats stirring it up it’ll me so much nicer

Technically phase 1a still isn't complete as it was originally planned to go all the way through to Brimscombe Port. There's a missing section of channel and an unrestored lock remaining. The next job that will make the biggest short term difference is to get the lift bridge replaced at Bonds Mill - which will link phase 1a to 1b and put a further 2 locks and a slipway into the navigable section.
@CourtAboveTheCut Жыл бұрын
I think the lift bridge is now fixed but h may be wrong. The 20 million going towards the missing mile is largely for bridges. Some towards locks and gates and the rest towards other bits but the bridges are a massive part of the budget. I’ve actually just posted my latest walking video which means I have all of Saul to Brimscombe covered, let me know if you need some links

I really do like your coverage of the Cotswold canal, one silly small thing is your speech, lots of 'ums', just listen to David Johns - cruising the cut, get some tips, we all learn from others so please don't take this supportive comment negatively.

I know, its something I’m actively trying to fix, I don’t even realise I’m doing it half the time! It’s because I rarely write notes so I’m going off the top of my head and it needs a bit of oiling up with some umms. I’m hoping there’s less of them in newer stuff, this is one of my older videos now.
@simontay4851 Жыл бұрын
Well you need to start writing notes or a script then...

What does that oil pipe feed? no oil infrastructure/depots around that area that I am aware of.......... Must be a gas pipe surely?
@CourtAboveTheCut2 жыл бұрын
No it’s 100% an oil pipeline, I touch on it in a future video I’m yet to edit. Basically it was built during the war to transport from avonmouth docks to the airfield in Birmingham and also the one that used to be nearby on what is now the M5 and the waste plant
